As the sun set and the fires of the burning village houses lit the battlefield a man fell on his knees gasping for air,he has been fighting for hours and though he had injuries all over his body and becoming lightheaded from all the blood that he spilled his thoughts and worries where elsewhere.
In that small window of rest he found he spoke in a whispered voice:"oh great gods above, please protect them from these monst-".
Before he could even finish his words one of the monsters leaped on him aiming for his neck with its sharp claws, without thinking he quickly raises his shield and blocks the incoming attack the impact of which drops him on the ground, before he is able to get up on his feet the monster leaped again, this time the man couldn't raise his shield fast enough, mere moments before that monster hit its target, a heavily armored man bashed it away and with a smooth motion stabbed his sword in its head.
The armored man turned around and said:"what are you still doing on the ground Arok and why aren't you in a group?"
Arok stood up with great difficulty and said:"thank you chieftain Zarak for saving me, I was separated from my group during a fight, and why are you here shouldn't you be protecting the village hall?"
Zarak:"the village hall is safe, the battle is already over we are just cleaning up what's left of them, and speaking of the village hall you should go there now not only are you injured and in no way fit for fighting, but it is also 'that moment'."
Arok felt his heart stop for a moment, he knew it was almost time but not so soon. He quickly turned around and started running to the village hall but he was too injured and fell down, lifting himself up he started walking towards the hall while thoughts swirled in his head, the doctor said that she was at risk, they said that she might not make it, she was his one and only reason to live, he had nothing but her left in this world.
Reaching the village hall he walked in and was approached by a group of medics that healed his wounds, after they finished they guided him to a room where he saw the a sight that dispelled all of his worries he saw her holding a newborn, thier newborn, looking closely he saw it was a boy
Arok came close to his wife and with a gentle and loving tone he said:"Hella you did it, you survived"
Hella looked at him with tired eyes and said:"Arok you say that as if you doubted that I would make it"
Arok look down with a saddened expression "I had my concerns that I might lose you" he looks eyes with Hella" was a wrong to do that?"
Hella:"I lived through it so you could calm down, we have more important things to do like giving him a name, we still didn't agree on one yet"
Arok:"rest now we will think of a name later, best we wait till he passes the test."
Hella look at the new born in her hands with a broken heart "Arok, our child hasn't cried yet, the midwives said he might not make it through the test." Hella's eyes started to water.
Arok look at the newborn and realized that it didn't make a sound even once since he came in the room, he also realized that his wife was putting on a brave act all this time, with a defeated look on his face he hugged Hella trying to comfort her as she wapt for their newborn child.
