Chapter 20 - chapter 19: conquest of the arena

In an instant, the arena erupted into chaos. All four fighters charged at each other, spells flying and blades clashing. Ivel darted forward, casting fire spells to create distractions while keeping mindful of his surroundings. Kaelion used his wind abilities to manipulate the direction of the attacks, redirecting some of the oncoming blasts toward Lucas.

"Nice move!" Lirael called out as she flanked Kaelion, joining him in unleashing a torrent of icy winds that enveloped Lucas, freezing his movements momentarily.

But Lucas was quick, his agility shining as he broke from the ice's grasp just in time. "You'll have to do better than that!" he shouted defiantly as he retaliated, sending a barrage of energy orbs at Lirael, who barely dodged, the orbs smacking against the ground, sending shards of earth flying.

Amidst the fracas, Ivel seized an opportunity. He spotted an opening next to Kaelion and rushed toward him. "Let's pin them down together!"

"On it!" Kaelion replied, channeling the wind to propel Ivel forward, so he could launch a powerful fireball at Lucas and Lirael. The attack exploded in a burst of flames, pushing Lucas back.

But just as Ivel thought they had the upper hand, Lirael called out in alarm, "Look out!" She had sensed the shift, realizing Lucas was gathering energy for a massive counterattack.

Ivel and Kaelion dashed to evade the impending wave of magical energy that surged toward them. Lirael strained to summon her power and created an ice wall, absorbing some of the impact, but the force knocked her off her feet.

"I'm fine, keep going!" Lirael yelled as she picked herself up, her resolve unshaken.

With the dust settling momentarily, Ivel took a deep breath and summoned his mana once more. The air around him crackled with power as he focused, gathering all his strength. "I won't hold back!" he shouted, channeling his energy into one powerful, concentrated spell.

Flames erupted around him as he unleashed a spectacular inferno that surged toward Lucas and Kaelion. The heat was intense, the wind swirling dangerously with potential destruction.

"Watch out!" Kaelion shouted, but it was too late. The blast consumed everything in its path, sending shockwaves throughout the arena.

As the fire began to dissipate, the crowd held its breath, anticipation hanging thick in the air. When the smoke cleared, Lucas was pushed far beyond the edge of the arena, sprawling across the ground in defeat.

The announcer's voice boomed once more, "And there you have it! Ivel is the winner of this intense four-way fight!"

Cheers erupted from the audience as Ivel stood tall, his heart racing with elation. He had overcome obstacles, both physical and emotional, and claimed victory. The energy of the arena surged around him, electrifying his very being.

As the congratulatory cheers continued, Kaelion sidled up to Ivel, a playful grin on his face. "Looks like you made quite the impression!" "Yeah, but it wasn't just me," Ivel replied, a humble smile crossing his face. "We did this together."

Lirael joined them, brushing dust off her clothes with a pleased look on her face. "You were amazing, Ivel! That last attack was something else! I don't think anyone expected such power."

"I just got carried away," he admitted, scratching the back of his head. "But I felt like I had to prove something."

As the announcer continued to celebrate Ivel's victory, he raised his arm in triumph, the cheers of the crowd washing over him. "Ivel will now advance to the finals!" the announcer proclaimed, his voice rising in excitement. "And with that victory, he has the opportunity to challenge anyone of his choosing!"

Ivel glanced at Kaelion and Lirael, his heart filled with determination. "We have to be ready. The real challenges are still ahead, and I think we'll need all the strength we can muster."

"Agreed," Kaelion said, his expression turning serious. "This tournament is getting tougher, and we can't underestimate anyone, especially King Cedric's son or whoever else makes it to the finals."

Lirael nodded, her eyes shining with resolve. "Let's use this time wisely. We can train a bit more while we have the opportunity before the next round starts."

As the three of them made their way out of the arena to a quiet training area, they could feel the anticipation and adrenaline still pulsing through their veins. They began to spar with each other, testing their skills, pushing their limits, and sharing tips on how to react in battle.

Minutes stretched into hours as their teamwork grew stronger. They combined their powers, using elemental magic to enhance each other's abilities. The bonds of friendship forged through struggle deepened as they sparred and strategized under the sun.

But as they trained, Ivel couldn't shake the feeling of unease about Elenor's sudden disappearance. "Doesn't it seem strange that Elenor vanished right after the match?" he questioned, pausing mid-spar. "It doesn't sit right with me."

Kaelion frowned, his brow furrowing in contemplation. "Yeah, it does feel off. I just hope he's okay. Maybe it's just a coincidence?"

Lirael crossed her arms. "Whatever the case, we need to focus on the tournament now. If we let our worries distract us, we could jeopardize our chances in the finals."

Ivel nodded, but a determined look crossed his face. "I'll keep an eye on it. Right now, we need to ensure we're ready for whatever comes next."

Soon, the announcer's voice resonated through the arena grounds again, calling everyone back for the next round. "All contestants, gather for the final match!"

As they stood together, Ivel, Kaelion, and Lirael made their way back to the arena, heartbeats in sync. The crowd's energy surged as they entered the vast arena, which brimmed with excitement from eager spectators. The anticipation was palpable, echoing in the cheers that resonated through the air like a wave.

The match was settled, and now the finals was about to begin. The announcer introduced the final contestants, their names cascading down like thunder, sending ripples of expectation.

"Prepare yourselves! The challenges ahead will test your limits and your resolve. Who will rise above the rest?"

With those words, Ivel felt a spark ignite within him. All doubts faded as he locked eyes with his friends, their expressions steely with focus and determination. Together, they could face any challenge.

As the competition unfolded, they knew they would not only fight for victory but also to protect each other, their bonds unbreakable.

"In this tournament," Ivel thought, his heart racing, "we're not just fighting for glory; we're fighting for our future."

And with that thought in mind, they stepped into the arena, ready to face whatever awaited them. The final battle had only just begun.
