"— If this is the end, I will ensure it is a worthy end for my house. — William Drako."
Monsters have always existed. Whether we accept them or not, our history has been intertwined with theirs from the very beginning, as if, in some way, it was an inevitable fate. The question that haunts us, that haunts me, is: why are humans always the ones who dare to reach for powers they do not understand? And, at the same time, why are we, fragile in our essence, the ones capable of saving ourselves from our own downfall? I must confess, I do not have an answer for this.
Perhaps the great tragedy of humanity is this: we create our own monsters. They can be flesh and bone, or shadows that dwell in our minds. Sometimes, our creation is born from uncontrollable ambition, while at other times, it is the result of a mistake, an error in judgment, or accidents.
But we must not forget those monsters born of shame, of the acts we bury deep within our souls, yet inevitably return to haunt us.
Monsters are not just creatures that roam the dark. They are symbols of what we fear in ourselves, of the unknown that resides in the recesses of our minds. They are the reflection of the inner chaos we cannot control, and the arrogance that makes us believe we can master everything. In the end, it is this same arrogance that always brings us to the brink of destruction.
But this story, the one I am about to tell you, is not about blame. It is not about who made the fatal mistake or who will bear the burden of fixing what has been broken. It is not about holding the creator responsible for the chaos unleashed upon that world, nor about glorifying those who try to rebuild what was destroyed.
Instead, I invite you to observe something deeper: the journey before the fall. The sequence of events that brought us here, to this point of no return. Before seeking repair, we must understand the origin. The beginning that showed us how fragile our existence is, how fleeting our certainties are.
Join me. Look back at the threads of a fate that began unraveling long before we arrived in this land. Before we were even aware of the monsters we created. This is the essence of this story: to understand how it all began, so that if the end comes… it may be different."
