On his arrival to the Luminescent Forest, Finn had chosen to use the body of a White Fenrir specifically for this battle.
His body was similar to that of a wolf, only way bigger with his body length being around 3.5 meters long. White fur with streaks of blue covered every part, and the blue eyes that Finn has come to like burning with invisible flames.
His material body could grow any body part, with the speed at which it grows and the size of what grows is determined by how much mana Finn wanted to put into them. This was the effect of his Shape Shifting skill.
Finn didn't need to avoid any monsters, most of them were the ones that needed to avoid him.
He was currently in the middle territory which he assumed to be ruled over by a sea creature. Maybe because it was usually in water, there were strong monsters around here too, but he didn't pay attention to them and they did the same.
He navigated his way to the territory of the Spider creature in a steady and patient pace.
As he began seeing the thin webs that were attached to the trees, Finn began using the trees as footholds, dodging the webs and making his way to the center of this creature's territory.
The further into the territory he moved Finn found himself encountering multiple monsters stuck to the Spider's thin webs. Somewhere either already dead, were on the brink of death, or still struggling to free themselves from the webs.
Finn had strange encounters too, but he was going to set that aside after he had finished his business. This strange encounters were tied to his abilities-his Rune Gift to be precise.
Now that he was at the center, Finn jumped down from the towering tree he was attached to, falling into this area where the spider web and monster corpses were especially concentrated.
Just as he jumped, he coated his entire body with a mana veil and that prevented his body from sticking to the webs, while he used his brute strength to cut them.
Even without using his Mana Sense to confirm, Finn was certain the Spider creature would come rushing pretty soon.
While he waited, he took a view of his surroundings which will be the battle ground.
The towering trees that blocked light were all connected by spider webs. The luminescent grasses and insects light up the surroundings giving it a blue and purple color.
Either attached to the webs or scattered on the floor were monster corpses that had been eaten thoroughly.
The last odd details Finn could identify were blue ethereal beings that looked like very weak ghosts randomly moving around here.
He scrutinized them, feeling like he knew what they were. But before worrying about that, he had something else to do.
The Spider would soon reach where he was.
Finn began using the little magic he had been training for months now. 8 to 10 water balls appeared around him, shooting out like pistols, cutting most of the surrounding webs.
Then, he looked up, the Spider was on a tree, looking at him with all black eight eyes.
All of its legs were long, taking the same white and purple color as its body. It was tall, more than 3 meters in height.
Suddenly, it let out a spirit-piercing shriek, causing even the monsters in the area to distance themselves from where this fight was going to unfold.
Finn smiled inwardly as he saw his adversary. Like a monster he currently was, he let out a howl of his own without restraint.
The battle began.
The Spider wove spikes made of spirit threads, while Finn created water balls that shot out as pistols.
As both launched attacks clashed, the two monsters moved.
Finn's body was enhanced with mana from within and thickened by Mana Veil from outside.
Without any attack skills, he relied on water magic for now.
The spider didn't close the distance fully until it realized that its launched attacks were futile.
The moment it created a web to swing itself, the web was cut by a water pistol bringing it falling down.
Before it could generate more web, Finn jumped at it, embracing his monster self, he bit on a leg of the monster as though he craved its meat.
Still mid air, the Spider used its remaining legs to stab at Finn's body, but struggled to fully penetrate.
Finn successfully bit off one of its legs, then used his claws to hit the underside of the spider, sending it flying, ignoring the legs that were almost denting him.
Both monsters landed.
The spider was already bleeding from its underside and where its leg was cut off, while the uninjured Finn's mouth was stained with green blood.
The spider speed increased, now avoiding a direct brawl, it created webs it would use to tangle his foe.
Web appeared around him, tightening and penetrating the mana veil, making contact with his direct body.
Finn could sense webs slowly tangling him, yet he didn't panic.
His concentration was on the spider.
At the spot where the spider was, the Earth suddenly moved, forming a huge spike that sprung up and threatened the spider's life.
The monster's reaction speed was fast. It dodge the attack and avoided an immediate death, the spike only managed to take another two legs from another side of its body.
Finn saw the opportunity and took it.
He strengthened his body more, pushing it to the limit to break free from the entanglement.
He rushed to where the spider was with water balls appearing as he moved.
When he almost reached the spider, he launched the water balls at the spider, aiming for the joints of its remaining legs.
To block the attack, the injured spider used its remaining legs to weave a web to obstruct the attack.
It then poured a large amount of web from its mouth, forcing Finn to stop his approach.
'You're still active, eh?' Finn thought.
He hopped over the obviously strange liquid-like web to cover distance.
Before he landed though, using a web, the spider had connected its body with the crown of a tree, taking itself upwards.
As Finn landed, he saw the web he had jumped over move like it had a life of its own, tangling Finn once more.
And this time, it was stronger!
The more Finn struggled to escape, the more he was getting tangled and almost cocooned. The web had already bypassed the mana veil, cutting through his body.
Just then, Finn looked up at the spider.
It was falling... Falling fast!
Its pointed spear-shaped legs were directed at Finn, ready to penetrate into Finn's body.
Finn launched unshaped water balls at the spider, giving him a bit of a moment.
Using his enhanced strength, along with Earth spikes he created with high difficulty, Finn managed to escape the entanglement, before the spider landed on top of him.
But, he had lost his two front arms for this!
Finn could regenerate it, but it would take time, and would consume mana.
Without second thoughts, he morphed his huge body, reducing his size to recreate his lost arm. His size had reduced to the length of 2 meters and some of the damages done by the webs had healed.
As the spider began preparing to attack more, Finn realized something.
'This bastard can manipulate webs!'
