Chapter 12 - Shadow Of Memories

Chapter 16: Shadow of Memories:

The rain poured down like a deluge, casting a melancholic gloom over the luxurious mansion. Angelo stood by the window, his gaze lost in the torrential downpour. With a sigh, he raised his hand and wrote "LEAH" on the glass, the bold letters a poignant reminder of his enduring love. As the rain washed away the name, Angelo's face contorted in a mix of sadness and longing.

He turned away, his footsteps echoing through the empty halls as he made his way to the liquor room. Two bottles of whiskey later, he stood before a black door, his heart heavy with grief. With a gentle knock, he entered the room, the warm glow of candles enveloping him like a comforting embrace.

Pictures of Leah adorned the walls, her radiant smile and sparkling eyes a bittersweet reminder of what he had lost. Angelo's gaze settled on the central table, where a large frame held a portrait of Leah, her blonde hair cascading down her shoulders like a golden waterfall. He poured two glasses of whiskey, his voice cracking as he whispered, "Happy birthday, my love."

The music of Michael Jackson's "You Are Not Alone" filled the room, the haunting melody a perfect accompaniment to Angelo's sorrow. He spoke to Leah as if she were still with him, sharing his thoughts, his fears, and his undying love.

"Hey, my love," Angelo said, his voice barely above a whisper. "It's your birthday today. I wish you were here to celebrate with me. I miss you so much, Leah. Every day feels like an eternity without you."

He paused, taking a sip of his whiskey.

"I remember the first time we met, you were wearing that yellow dress, and your hair was blowing in the wind. I knew right then and there that you were the one for me. And now, you're gone, and I'm left with only memories."

Angelo's eyes welled up with tears as he continued to speak to Leah, his words slurred by the whiskey.

"I know I shouldn't be drinking, but it's the only way I can cope with the pain. I feel so lost without you, Leah. You were my everything, my reason for living. And now, you're gone, and I'm left with this emptiness that I can't fill."

As the night wore on, Angelo's words slurred, his body succumbing to the whiskey's numbing effects. Yet, even in his drunken haze, his heart remained steadfast, refusing to let go of the memories he shared with Leah. The music faded, the candles burned low, but Angelo's love for Leah remained, an eternal flame that would never be extinguised Angelo continued to speak, his words pouring out like a river.

"I remember our first date, our first kiss, our first everything. You were my first love, Leah, my only love. I never thought I'd lose you, but life had other plans. You were taken from me too soon, and I'm left with only memories."

He paused, taking a deep breath.

"I know I shouldn't be selfish, but I can't help it. I wish you were still here with me, holding my hand, smiling at me, loving me. I miss your laugh, your smile, your eyes. I miss everything about you, Leah."

Angelo's voice cracked as he spoke, his emotions raw and exposed.

"I know I'll never find another love like ours."

He took another sip of his whiskey, his eyes closing as he let the memories wash over him.

"I love you, Leah, now and forever. Happy birthday, my love."

Angelo's eyes grew heavy, his words slurring as the whiskey took its toll. He stumbled backwards, collapsing onto the couch, his eyes fixed on the portrait of Leah.

"I'll never let you go, Leah... never," he whispered, his voice barely audible.

His eyes fluttered closed, his body limp, as he succumbed to the darkness of his grief. The music faded, the candles burned low, and the room fell silent, except for the sound of Angelo's labored breathing.

He lay there, lost in his sorrow, his heart still trapped in the past, refusing to let go of the memories he shared with Leah. The whiskey bottle lay empty beside him, a testament to his attempt to dull the pain, but it only seemed to intensify his grief.

As the night wore on, Angelo's body remained still, his mind consumed by the memories of his beloved Leah, his love for her unwavering, even in death.

.......

In another mansion far from the one Angelo was in, a young lady entered the house with excitement all over her face. "Mom, Dad, I'm home!" she said, running to the kitchen, drawn by the delicious aroma of food. "Hey baby girl, how was your flight?" her mother asked. "Hectic," Sophia replied, her mouth already full of food. "Where's Dad?" she asked, looking around. "He went out for a while, he'll be back soon," her mother replied. Sophia nodded, grabbed another plate of food, and ran upstairs, dragging her luggage behind her. "Sophia, be careful, don't run with food in your mouth!" her mother yelled after her. Sophia laughed and continued up to her room, where she opened her laptop and called her friend Stefanie on FaceTime. They chatted and laughed together, enjoying each other's company. After the call, Sophia took a warm shower, got into her nightgown, and headed downstairs for dinner.

As Sophia sat down to eat, her father, Giovanni Ferragamo, walked into the dining room, a warm smile on his face. Sophia jumped up and kissed him on the cheek, "Dad, you're finally here!" She then returned to her seat, her eyes scanning the table filled with her favorite dishes. She was indeed a foodie, and her mother, Maria, had outdone herself this time.

After dinner, the family lingered at the table, chatting and laughing. The conversation turned to Sophia's life as an actress, which she had put on hold to take over her father's business as the chairwoman. Sophia's parents exchanged a proud glance, and her mother spoke up, "We're so proud of you, Sophia. You've always had a knack for business, and we know you'll take the company to new heights."

Sophia smiled, her eyes shining with determination. "Thanks, Mom. I won't let you down. I'll make sure to make the company thrive." Her father placed a hand on her shoulder, "We know you will, sweetie. You have our full support."

The family continued to chat, discussing everything from business strategies to Sophia's latest acting projects. As the night drew to a close, Sophia felt grateful for her loving family and the opportunity to take on this new challenge. Little did she know, her life was about to take a dramatic turn, one that would test her skills, her heart, and her very identity.
