Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Inspector Sullivan's words of inspirations echoed through Helen's brain as she prepared for her first field assignment. "Oh, sowed no fear, dear girl. You're going to perform excellently well.

I have no doubt about it, your father is going to be proud Just follow the protocols and don't violate any. He handed her a small device. This is a communication tool. Use it to reach me if you need anything."

Helen nodded as her heart racing with excitement and a hint of fear. She was about to go undercover as Rowlins' mole, and the stakes were high. no mistakes, no excuses. no distractions.

Inspector Sullivan said to Helen as he prepares her to be his mole and undercover agent in Pineville. He set out to travel to London to meet her majesty Queen of England to brief her of the investigation about stolen crate of BAR from the patrol boat off Mediterranean coast few days ago.

You do anything necessary to get close to Rowlins, i shall be in London and the next day in Pineville with you. Helen nodded as her heart raced. Thinking of her first field mission, the dangers and the stakes.

Helen in Pinevillie, she walked towards the Rowlins family Pub as she was dressed elegantly fine and nice.

"I am here for the job of the barmaid vacancy that was advertised in yesterday morning's newspaper, sir. My name is Helen."

"Good morning, the position was filled an hour ago," Stanley said to her as he wiped down the bar top. Like all bartenders, he draped a white towel over his left shoulder while working. Beside, you are in wrong place.

He stood as he said to her, staring straight at her, "you are too beautiful to be barmaid, they will have you up against the wall"

"I have experiences", she replied.

"Oh! I can sing, another talent I'm blessed with in France, if you don't mind". My singing makes them stunned in awe and calm during the war and stop fighting.

She blurted as her eyes dashed around the pub corners searching for the said new apprentice that took the role she aspires to.

It's not allowed! Stanley replied abruptly as he turned away from her like he had another important customer to attend to. She jumped on a small side stood locking her index fingers over her tights as she started singing a shanty in a low and calm Soprano voice that triggers the will of an unwilling minded man into action.

Stanley rushed towards her on the Stood she's standing upon to bring her down and throw her outside the bar hall.

Rowlins pushed open the bar entrance door and said to Stanley "allow her" as he enter smartly like the owner of the bar as though he is intrigued by her voice from outside with an office bag in his right hand, left hand in his pocket, stood close to the Bar table and watched indirectly with awe as she sing and complete the song, Stanley stood and said to Rowlins, "I have told her singing is not allowed in here and vacancy is closed" No! She's employed, "you can start Now". Rowlins said.

Bring me a bottle of whiskey and a glass cup, "he said to the bartender and he helped himself into a small cubicle in the bar room. "Yes Mr Rowlins", said the bartender.

He raised his head up and said to her, "Sing for me, he raised two fingers as if she'd forgot her name, I wanna hear you, as his eyes goo goo at Helen,

I'll break your heart, she said as if she's seen it in his eyes the passion for her.

He replied "it's already broken"

Then she began singing.

"Take a little work towards the edge of town,

and go across the track,

where a the viaduct looms like the bird of doom"

"As it shifts and cracks,

where the secrets lie in the border fires,

In the humming wires"

"Hey man you know you are never coming back"

On a gathering storms comes a tall handsome

Man,

In a dusky black coat, with a red right hand

You are hired! "Show her around:, Rowlins instructed the Bartender as he sipped off his last poured whisky. Stood up suddenly and left the bar.

Helen picked up some bar buckets filled with spits and vomits, emptied them in another as she began her journey as barmaid.

I'd say you are in on a luck girl, but you are in a wrong bar, dont forget that i told you this.

She took a glimpse of Henry and walked out with the filled bucket.
