Chapter 59 - An Uneasy Celebration

Things had been so chaotic lately that I completely forgot about my birthday. The morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the room as I stirred from sleep. The familiar sound of little feet padding toward my bed made me smile even before I opened my eyes. Caspian's excited voice filled the room.

"Happy birthday, Mommy!" he cheered, holding a tray that wobbled slightly in his hands. My heart warmed instantly. He stood proudly at the edge of the bed, grinning from ear to ear.

On the tray were pancakes topped with fresh fruit, a small pitcher of syrup, and a glass of juice that looked freshly squeezed. The sweetness in the air filled the room. I sat up, beaming at his effort.

"Caspian, did you make this?" I asked, pulling him into a hug.

"Lilly helped," he said proudly, puffing out his chest. "But I did most of it!"
