Chapter 16 - 16 I'll handle it.

After safely delivering Rowlin to Alcott College, Lane rode the horse back to the mansion.

When he reached the front of the mansion gate, Lane's brows suddenly furrowed, noticing something was amiss.

The several guards who had been conscientiously guarding the mansion gate were all gone?

After parking the horse, Lane quickly walked into the mansion.

After entering the mansion, at first glance, Lane saw that in front of Nanali's room, there were now crowds of people!

The two maids, Deli and Daixi, stood in front of Nanali's room, refusing to budge.

A group of guards in the mansion held long spears and were confrontation with a group of silver-armored knights with full vigilance.

Deli was no longer wearing a smiling expression but had a cold look:

"Other places in the mansion have all been searched by you. What else do you want?"

"Of course, it's to search this last room."

The leading knight spoke flippantly, without any image that a knight should have.

"This is our young lady's room. Without the young lady's consent, none of you can enter."

Saying this, Deli pulled out a dagger from the sleeve of her maid outfit: "Intruders, die!"

"You dare talk about death to me?"

The leading knight chuckled and said:

"I'm the captain of the knights under the marquis. How dare you move against me? If you dare to touch me, your entire Ashe family will be implicated because of this!"

Hearing this knight's words, the expressions of all the guards didn't show any fluctuation. They still pointed their spear tips at this group of unwelcome guests.

The face of that knight captain also sank. He waved his hand and shouted:

"I suspect the forbidden book is hidden in this room. Stop these ungrateful guards. I'll go in and search myself!"

After saying that, the knight captain reached out to push the two maids aside.

Deli held the dagger in one hand and blocked Daixi behind her with the other. Just as she was about to cut off the salty pig's trotter of this knight captain, a figure suddenly appeared among them. Lane casually grabbed the wrist of that knight captain and gently pushed it back, causing that knight captain to retreat several steps.

If it weren't for the other knights supporting him, this knight captain would probably have fallen to the ground.

So weak...

Lane complained in his heart. This strength was even worse than the knight he met in the morning. The captain of the knights of a marquis's family, just like this?

What a disgrace to the knights...

Looking at the group of knights in front of him, Lane said indifferently:

"First of all, we haven't hidden any forbidden books privately. Secondly, this is my young lady's room. Whoever enters, dies!"

Towards the end, a faint killing intent emanated from Lane, making the group of knights involuntary tremble with fear.

Where did this guy pop out from?!

The knight captain shivered and then forced himself to raise his head, saying:

"Since you haven't hidden the forbidden books privately, then why are you guarding this room so stubbornly? I think you are guilty!"

"It seems there's no room for negotiation."

Lane sighed, and then his eyes suddenly focused: "Form an array!!"

With Lane's sudden shout, although the group of guards present only had a nodding acquaintance with Lane, they still subconsciously followed Lane's order and formed an array!

"Whoosh!"

With a burst of armor rubbing sounds, the group of guards stood neatly, with their spear tips pointed flatly. They were even more solemn than those knights!

"Clang--"

Those knights also drew their swords one after another. At a glance, there were even few people with the correct posture of holding the swords.

"A mob..."

Clearly they were knights of a marquis, but they were a mob. Coupled with that domineering momentum, Lane could already guess that this group of knights must have done many things to bully men and women.

Thinking like this, Lane slowly raised his hand and touched the sword at his waist.

The killing intent he emanated became even more intense.

Cold sweat involuntarily emerged on the forehead of the knight captain. He didn't know if it was an illusion, but he seemed to faintly see... mountains and seas of corpses behind Lane!

This damn person is definitely not an attendant of a count's family! Where did this person come from?!

Just when the two sides were at a stalemate, the door of Nanali's room was suddenly pushed open.

Nanali walked out with an indifferent face, came to Lane's side, looked at this group of uninvited guests in front of her, and said:

"Lane, let them search."

As soon as the words fell, all the guards retracted their long spears at the same time, and Lane also let go of the hand that was already touching the sword hilt.

"Hehe, very sensible!"

The knight captain showed a rather wretched smile, and at the same time reached out his hand towards Nanali, wanting to touch Nanali's head.

Lane's eyes turned slightly cold, and he suddenly reached out and grabbed the knight captain's pig's trotter -

"Click -"

"Ahh!!" Along with a crisp cracking sound, the knight captain let out a shrill scream and sat on the ground with a thump:

"My hand! My hand!"

"Captain!"

Seeing this, the other knights quickly drew their swords.

Lane chuckled lightly: "What are you yelling for? I didn't hurt you."

Hearing this sentence, the knight captain's voice gradually subsided. He stared blankly at his right hand.

Seeing that the gauntlet on his right hand was already covered with dense cracks, but the palm inside was indeed unharmed without the slightest pain.

The knight captain's face turned red. He didn't provoke Nanali anymore and waved his hand:

"Search for me!"

After searching for a full ten minutes, several knights finally walked out of Nanali's boudoir.

"Didn't find it!"

"No forbidden book was found!"

"So..."

The knight captain sneered and looked at Lane:

"It seems that the forbidden book is hidden too deeply. In the future, we still need to observe more and search here from time to time."

When the knight captain finished this sentence, Lane could clearly feel that the strength of the small hand that Nanali was grasping his pants increased a few more points.

Lilynai's heart should be quite flustered and helpless at this moment, right?

"Let's go!"

As the knight captain gave the order, a group of knights left the mansion in a mighty manner, leaving a mess all over the place.

Nanali looked down at the ground. Just as Lane said, her heart was quite helpless at this moment.

The opponent was a marquis, a figure who held absolute power in the entire empire. Even if the charge of privately hiding forbidden books was false, if they wanted to impose it, they could still do it.

Just then, a broad and thick hand suddenly stroked the top of her head.

Feeling the warmth coming from the top of her head, Nanali's small face blushed slightly:

"Don't touch my head..."

But Lane spoke softly: "It's because I taught the young lady those magics that the young lady was targeted by these people."

Hearing this, Nanali raised her head sharply: "This has nothing to do with you!"

"How could it have nothing to do with me."

Lane squatted down, looked at Nanali directly, and said seriously:

"Even excluding the matter of teaching the young lady magic, it still has something to do with me because I'm your personal butler."

Saying this, Lane withdrew his hand, looked in the direction where those knights left, and a trace of imperceptible fierce color flashed in the bottom of his eyes:

"Don't worry, young lady. I'll handle all of this."
