Instinctively, he executed a forward roll to his left avoiding the disastrous legs of the spider.
It's metallic leg sliced through the ground like butter, scattering debris of the shattered ground.
Rentaro's eyes wavered in disbelief, his eyes fixated on the shattered ground.
"If I had wasted anymore time to avoid that strike, that spider would have sliced my skull into two." He said softly, the tune of his voice tinged with fear and shock.
Impatiently, the spider lunged at Rentaro with it's fangs, attempting to feed on the body of the human. Controlling the anxiety that rushed through him, he leaped above the spider's head as it's fangs sunk into the wall.
With a soft landing, he crouched to his right knee, taking small breaths as he gasped. The spider's body was covered totally by a metallic armor which reduced it's movement speed.
Returning his attention to the danger at hand, Rentaro's eyes wavered in shock. The walls which the spider's fangs had sunk into melted instantly.
"What!?"
The spider's fangs contained a deteriorating poison or in much simpler terms, corrosive acid. It easily leads to the degradation of the spider's target cellular walls, making it easier for it to consume it's prey.
"Tsk, I never really expected to run into the boss this early. Still in terms of rankings this dungeon should be a D-rank dungeon in the least."
He spun the katana in his hand, stretching his right leg forward as a grin stretched across his face.
"That means no matter the tricks it has up it's legs, I can still take it!"
With a loud battlecry, he plunged forward at the spider who stood ready for him. In response, the large spider spun it's webs and shot it rapidly at him in order to secure it's prey.
"Sorry, but that's not gonna work on me!" He exclaimed, the armory of the spider made it difficult for it to accurately aim it's web at a fast moving target giving Rentaro the advantage.
He evaded the webs with ease, skillfully slicing through the sticky webbings with precision. The spider prepared to strike again, this time striking two of his legs down at Rentaro.
"Too slow!" He executed a forward roll, gaining his balance right underneath the spider's legs. "Now!"
Utilizing all the strength he had, he aimed a swift and precise strike directly towards the spider's stomach.
As his blade made contact with the spider's abdomen, it shattered into several pieces and reduced to a half blade, leaving Rentaro astonished.
"Huh..?"
Grasping it's chance, the spider swung it's leg, hitting Rentaro directly in his stomach.
"Gh-Bleh!" He coughed out a large amount of blood as he was forcefully propelled into the walls of the cave.
He crashed to the cold grounds, holding his midsection tightly as he could feel a sharp pain radiating through his stomach. There was no mistake, there was no doubt he escaped that without suffering a few complications.
"W..hat?" He said softly with a loud groan, his hands and legs vibrated rapidly from the impact earlier. He assumed that with his strength slicing through the armory of the spider might work, but he was wrong and it cost him.
Realizing it's prey had been weakened, the spider approached him, saliva drooling down its mouth as it caught sight of Rentaro's fresh blood.
He sat up slowly, dragging his body backwards as the spider took it's time stalking him. He was out of options, his sword was broken and his skills limited. There was nothing in his arsenal that could deal a great damage to the spider.
'Should I summon the dragon?' He thought as his back pressed against the walls.
He considered summoning Volton, but after careful consideration he realized two things. Summoning Volton in this tight space would lead to the total destruction of the dungeon including him.
The second, Volton would end up disappointed.
The spider arrived in front of him, raising it's leg as it attempted to deliver the final blow.
'Is..this it for me?' He murmured in his thoughts as pictures which depicted his parent's death rushed through his mind, immediately the spider struck it's leg down at his skull.
"Hmph." A soft grin stretched across his face and at the last minute, Rentaro vanished from the spider's sight before it's sharp leg could crush it's skull.
"All my life, I've walked like a coward, a weakling. People considered me as talentless and average nothing special, but it all ends here!" With a forceful exclamation, he landed on his two feet and dashed forward with a fiery determination in his eyes.
"Even after being granted power by the system I'm still weak, but that ends here! I'll grasp this power! I'll hone this power till I become a force to be reckoned with!"
Being much agile than the spider, he slashed the half broken sword at the spider's body multiple times but it just bounced off the armor with each strike.
"There's has to be a weakness in it's armor! I'll find it and I'll crush it!"
Not being able to keep up with the movements of Rentaro, the massive spider shrieked out loud before raising three of it's legs into the air and struck them down forcefully into the ground, creating a shockwave that knocked everything in it's path off balance.
Anticipating this, Rentaro leaped up into the air and stared down at the spider.
"That's it!" He exclaimed.
From a bird's eye view, he discovered that the only places where the armor couldn't cover completely were the spider's joints for obvious reasons and it's eyes.
"I've got you now!" He spun the broken blade in his hand and with a powerful thrust, he launched the blade at the one place the spider would struggle to avoid.
WHIZ!
With the increase in his strength, the blade sliced through the air and penetrated the eyes of the spider.
RAWWWW!
Shrieking in pain, the spider stretched it's pointy legs outwards at Rentaro who descended swiftly towards it, attempting to turn him into a kabob.
"Not yet!" He maneuvered his body through the giant legs of the spider and descended towards it's eyes instantly.
Now in fear, the spider shot out webs from its mouth directly at Rentaro.
"No you don't!" With a loud outburst, Rentaro built up a medium size blue ball of energy.
"ARHH!!" He concentrated his Soul-Energy into it rapidly, utilizing the concept of the Two Core Stages of the Soul-Core, Amplification and Enhancement. In a matter of seconds, electric currents sparked off the blue ball of energy and he aimed it at the web.
The ball of energy disintegrated the webs on contact and continued doing so as the spider continuously shot out it's web to prevent him from reaching it's eyes.
However it was to no avail, the ball of energy completely disintegrated the webs, turning it to ashes as Rentaro finally arrived at the spider's eyes.
"Electric Burst!"
He slammed the hilt of the sword with the blue ball of energy, sending electric currents through the sword. As the ball of energy dispersed and flowed into the sword, it exploded and drove the sword far deep into the spider's body and also launched Rentaro several meters backwards.
As he crashed to the ground, the spider's movement halted and it's body fell to the ground completely.
