Chapter 55: Taming a King-level Monster
As new Mother Nests continued to appear over the past few days, coupled with the uninterrupted reproduction of the original five Mother Nests, the number of the Zerg swarm had approached 800,000. Under the unified adjustment and arrangement of the Mother Nests, over 600,000 belonged to the soldier rank, with more than 100,000 at the Commander rank.
With nearly 800,000 Zerg units and over twenty Horde Leader monsters forcibly assimilated by Qin Mu, this vast power was mobilized by Qin Mu's spirit power through soul links. Like a flood, it was about to rush into the consciousness of the King-level monster, the Flame Giant Lizard.
"Roar——" "Human."
Sensing the crisis, the Flame Giant Lizard howled, rolling on the ground before frantically burrowing into the earth. It was clear that neither the sky nor the ground offered an escape route with its speed. Deep underground, the Flame Giant Lizard continued to dig deeper, its tail sweeping to collapse the tunnel it had dug. This Flame Giant Lizard seemed particularly adept at digging, almost instantly burrowing a hundred meters deep.
In the sky, Qin Mu's expression changed, and he followed without hesitation, drilling in. The distance over which spirit power could control weapons was limited. Once it exceeded the distance, control would be lost. Several short spears rotated rapidly, like a drill, following the collapsed tunnel dug by the Flame Giant Lizard.
Qin Mu's heart turned ruthless. Originally, he was only controlling the short spears inside the Flame Giant Lizard to attack, but he hadn't pierced its heart or other fatal areas, not wanting to truly kill it. But now, he couldn't afford to be cautious.
Under the manipulation of spirit power, a short spear rampaged through the Flame Giant Lizard's soft abdomen, eventually piercing its heart as the Flame Giant Lizard looked on in extreme horror. The Flame Giant Lizard, which had been frantically digging downward, stiffened and stopped moving, as if it were dead.
Qin Mu, who had caught up, sneered. Could a King-level monster die so easily? Was it trying to lure him over for a final counterattack?
Deep underground, Qin Mu stopped a hundred meters away from the Flame Giant Lizard. The vast spirit power of the entire Zerg swarm surged into the Flame Giant Lizard's consciousness. In the gray space of the Flame Giant Lizard's consciousness, a condensed figure over a hundred meters long, somewhat illusory, appeared and roared towards the sky.
However, before the surging spirit power like a reversed celestial river, the massive Flame Giant Lizard was instantly overwhelmed, shattering into countless fragments that scattered like stars.
Before the vast spirit power of the Zerg swarm, its soul, which was considered strong even among King-level monsters, was utterly fragile and shattered in an instant. Its soul was quickly infected, and a faint but increasingly solid soul link appeared in Qin Mu's consciousness.
"Finally." Qin Mu stumbled, nearly losing his balance. Mobilizing the vast spirit power of the entire Zerg swarm at once, Qin Mu's human body and consciousness were still too fragile to hold on. Qin Mu felt as if his brain had suddenly overloaded, constantly emitting a buzzing sound, and he couldn't stop gasping for air.
"I was too rash. I shouldn't have mobilized such a vast spirit power. Half would have been enough, no, even less than half would have been enough to easily crush the Flame Giant Lizard." Leaning against the tunnel, Qin Mu rested for a while before finally recovering.
In this battle, Qin Mu had used all his means. The move "Sky-Piercing Cone" was still a half-finished product. In his research over the past few days, Qin Mu could currently only condense the attacks of sixteen short spears into a single point. In theory, this move should be able to condense thirty-six short spears, rotating crazily to form an extremely terrifying focal point.
Even a King-level monster, Qin Mu was confident he could instantly kill.
Mobilizing the spirit power of the entire Zerg swarm to launch an attack was actually a crude form of the Zerg race's combined attack method. It was a form of soul attack.
Using this attack for the first time, Qin Mu was completely improvising, his method too crude. He simply mobilized the spirit power of the entire Zerg swarm, overwhelming the Flame Giant Lizard with sheer quantity. However, Qin Mu's own physical and spirit power were too weak compared to this force.
"Next time, next time I can't be so reckless."
This King-level monster, after Qin Mu used the Sky-Piercing Cone to pierce its body, killing it wouldn't have been difficult, but making it submit was another matter. With his peak Wargod spirit power, wanting to invade the consciousness of a King-level monster and force it to submit was almost impossible. But by mobilizing the power of the Zerg swarm, it was a different story.
Penetrating the earth, Qin Mu walked to the Flame Giant Lizard's body, which was lying limp underground, and looked at the massive body with excitement. This was the first King-level monster to belong to his Zerg race.
The benefits of subjugating a King-level monster were too great. This was originally its territory. By subjugating it, the entire City 023 would become a paradise for the Zerg swarm to incubate. And it would become the trump card of the Zerg race, a true high-end combat force.
With a good start, subjugating other King-level monsters would be much simpler.
How many human powerhouses beyond the Wargod level were there? How many monsters were there?
Just the aerial and land monsters were far more numerous than humans. The ocean was even more terrifying. Later, when the Golden Horned Beast led a global monster tide, just the portion that crawled out of the ocean was close to a thousand King-level. This was also why Qin Mu hadn't rushed to develop in the ocean. Although the ocean was vast and had many monsters, there were too many King-level monsters.
Not to mention, there were two Emperors in the ocean.
Without sufficient strength, venturing into the ocean was too dangerous. But it wouldn't be long. Once the Mother Nests were upgraded to Level 3 or even Level 4, the Zerg swarm could appear openly and launch a true total war, devouring all monsters and turning them into nutrients for the swarm.
"Steady, even if it's slower, we must be steady."
Qin Mu looked at the Flame Giant Lizard before him, his excitement gradually fading. "I need to treat it quickly, or all this effort will be wasted if the Flame Giant Lizard dies."
During the battle, the Flame Giant Lizard's body was riddled with holes, its heart pierced, and its soul had fallen into a coma. Such injuries, even for a King-level monster, couldn't be sustained for long.
With a thought, part of Qin Mu's consciousness descended into the Flame Giant Lizard's body, manipulating the massive body to climb to the surface. On the surface, a worker bug, under the cover of the Zerg swarm, entered the subway and began to incubate a new Mother Nest at the lowest level of a subway platform.
The Flame Giant Lizard's injuries were too severe for it to make it to the nearest Mother Nest. Qin Mu simply incubated a new Mother Nest to treat the Flame Giant Lizard's injuries while also making new Zerg units in City 003.
The Flame Giant Lizard crawled to the lowest level of the subway platform near the new Mother Nest, revealing only part of its body before stopping. It would hide underground to heal, becoming the trump card of the Zerg swarm.
Three hours later, the Flame Giant Lizard, whose aura had been growing weaker, was covered in a thick layer of fungus. Countless tendril-like threads wrapped around its body, and a massive amount of energy poured into it, beginning to heal its wounds.
The Flame Giant Lizard's aura finally stabilized, and it managed to survive.
Lying in a corner of the subway platform, Qin Mu rested while also contemplating the unique sensation when his consciousness entered the Flame Giant Lizard's body. This Flame Giant Lizard was clearly a fire-attribute monster, with its awakened special ability being flames. King-level monsters, also known as Planetary-level monsters, like human fighters, would awaken corresponding special abilities.
Being able to use a King-level monster to preemptively comprehend Planetary-level power was also of great benefit to Qin Mu's growth.
"Indeed, risking injury to subjugate this Flame Giant Lizard was the right choice." In the dark subway platform, a look of joy appeared on Qin Mu's face.
