Chapter 6.
Nerea point Of View.
"What do you mean your life is in danger?" Mia quickly held my hands and I could see fear in her eyes." Say something." She shook my hand when I didn't say a word.
My friends stared back at me even Zane stopped eating and gave all his attention to me for once.
I felt like I had betrayed them,that I should have told them this all along but it had come suddenly and i didn't know what to do.
I brought out the envelope that contains both letters and slided it across the table and Mia was the first to reach for it ,her eyes boring into mine as she carefully brought out the letters.
" What does it say?" Celeste asked impatiently raising her head to see the contents of the letter.
" Can you be patient for once?" Robin said and Celeste gave him dirty look.
"I wasn't talking to you I had warned you countless times not to speak to me ever again." She said and clicked her tongue.
Those two they can even fight or argue in the face of danger,they are so unbelievable .
" Its says to Philippa." Mia read.
" To Philippa?" Jake asked staring at me ."but your middle name is Suzette not Philippa."
"The letter says to Philippa you shouldn't get worried I think it's a case of mistaken identity."Celeste said turning to Zane and they both nodded .
"But I have been receiving this letters ever since I was very little and I don't know who always brings them ."I explained to them and buried my face in my hands.
"Yes you once told us it comes 3 days before your birthday." Robin said resting his back on the chair.
All this while Mia was reading both letters and she raised her head when she was done.
"This is a marriage proposal from Lucien Avery Del Mar and it says you are both getting married in 3 days time." Mia explained to everyone and they exchanged puzzled glances.
"Woow, wedding bells ringing." Zane said ,his eyes gleaming ."this is great news guys I think we should start the search for the best caterers in town."
His happiness was short lived and his smile froze on his lips when Robin and the rest gave him an angry look.
" Sorry." He muttered.
" So who is this Lucien guy and why is he sending you a marriage proposal all of a sudden?"Jake asked staring fixedly at me and I exhaled.
"I really don't know but Rosa explain to me yesterday that there is an agreement between my parents and him ,she said he made my parents wealthy and gave me back my life when I was a baby and had died ,so my parents agreed that when I come of age I would marry him."
Both Mia and Celeste in gasped in shock.
"But you can't get married to someone who you don't even know." Mia said to me and she dropped the envelope back on the table.
"We haven't even seen his shadow." Zane said and he earned an angry look from Robin who shook his head sadly.
"I don't want to get married to some man I want to be an actress." I said letting out a frustrated cry." Rosa said that if I don't do as he says that everything my parents ever worked for will vanish ..." I stopped to swallow thick air and continued." And I think what she is saying has already started working, all the maids has resigned because I couldn't pay them, some of the shareholders and sponsors of the companies had left, three out of the five companies my parents have have been seized by the government and-" I stopped and burst into tears and Mia handed me some tissues and pulled me into a hug ,consoling me.
" Don't cry please." She said and I knew she felt like crying too.
" The last company burnt to the ground mysteriously last night." I finished and a thick silence descended upon us everyone was so shocked and surprised they couldn't even matter a single word.
" This isn't good at all." Jake said breaking the silence." We have to do something quickly."
"Something like what?"Robin asked after a while rolling his eyes
"Gracious heavens!"Celeste gasped."I should have known that you're up to no good, so you really want her to marry that guy?"
Robin starred at Celeste and he felt like he was going to reach over and give her a tight slap.
"Will you shut up , why are you even here the first place, I thought you said your grandmother is dead shouldn't you be attending her funeral?" Robin spat.
" You .." But Celeste was too angry to finish her sentence and she bit down on her lower lip and got up trying to punch Robin who was calmly watching her.
" If someone doesn't tell this old witch to sit down I will take my leave ." Robin said adjusting his leather jackets.
"Guy ,guys we shouldn't fight now, please." Jake said trying to maintain peace and he pinched the bridge of his nose.
" Rubbish." Robin and Celeste said to each other in unison and when their eyes met they quickly look away and I knew they were going to avoid each other for the rest of the week.
"So what should we do next?" Jake asked when everyone was calm.
" She should get married to him." Zane said ,everyone stared at him in disbelief and shock and he almost vanished in shame.
" Shut up." Everyone said.
" Stop drinking those and pay attention." Robin said taking the diet Coke from him and gulping it all down , Zane tried to protest and gave up.
"I think you should just refuse his proposal and live your life normally."Celeste suggested and everyone nodded agreeing with her.
"I wish I could but Rosa told me my life is tied to him and if I don't get married to him ,I might lose my life."
"This isn't good ." Mia said said in a grace voice .
"I really don't know what else to do I'm so confused right now."I said
"I think the best thing you have to do is to find this Lucien guy,Nerea." Mia suggested and she reached for the letters again and tried reading them.
" I don't think Nerea knows where he is."Jake added."let me see those."he said to Mia who handed the envelope to him."I think there's an address here."
"Really."I ask suddenly surprised."the letters never came with any address." My eyes bulged in surprise.
"What does it say?"
" 345 Ravenhurst Street ." Jake read to everyone's hearing
" 345 Ravenhurst Street." Robin repeated."I don't think that street exists."Robin said in a small voice thoughtfully.
"Maybe it does ,you never can tell I will have to look it up in my laptop ." Mia said looking at everyone ." I left my laptop at home is anyone with theirs?"
" Not me." Robin said.
" Me neither." Jake and Celeste said.
" Mine is broken." Zane said ." I'm trying to get it fixed."
" Get a new one bro." Robin said reaching over to take a handful of chips from Zane who didn't look pleased .
"When I get home I will have to check it up, then I will go with you to the address and tell him that you are not interested getting married to him." Mia said giving my hand a gentle squeeze.
" You speak like you are planning on meeting a six year old." Robin countered."how sure are you that you are going to meet the right person besides Nerea had never seen him before."
I and Mia exchanged glances.
"I know what to do." Mia challenged him jutting her jaw towards him.
" Sorry." Robin raised his hands in mock surrender." I forgot you are a computer freak,if you can find the identity of the guy you owe your mother, definitely you can find the devil and tell him he should scrap hell." He said sarcastically cocking an eyebrow , Mia narrowed her eyes and looked away,she brought out her phone and typed on it furiously.
" I tried looking it up in my phone but I think there is no connection." She explained to me after some few minutes but Robin couldn't let her finish when he coughed nervously." Wonders." He muttered and Mia glanced at him and ig
nored him completely.
" I think it's time for the next lecture." Jake glanced down at his phone.
