Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: The Rain Won't Let Up

In a situation like this, Kuzan knew that Aoki's emotions were unstable. If Kuzan were in Aoki's position, he might have acted even worse.

Kuzan wasn't thinking about trivial matters like that right now. In a sincere prayer, Kuzan hoped that Nansa could be saved, even though that hope felt increasingly thin.

...

...

...

An hour passed, but the rain showed no signs of letting up. The heavy drops pounded on the roof of Kuzan's shop with a rhythm that was almost painful. Suddenly, the shop door opened, revealing Sakumo Hatake in a raincoat, his body drenched.

"Huh, it's really pouring," Sakumo said, taking off his raincoat. "Hey, Kuzan, is everything...?" Sakumo stopped mid-sentence when he saw the gloomy expression on his close friend Kuzan's face.

"What's wrong?" Sakumo asked seriously, sensing that something was amiss.

Kuzan looked at Sakumo with heavy eyes, as if the weight of the world was on his shoulders. "Aunt Aoki... Nansa... has passed away," Kuzan said softly, as if the words were too painful to utter.

Sakumo was stunned. "What?" he murmured, almost in disbelief.

"A little while ago, Aoki rushed to the Konoha hospital to check on his aunt," Kuzan continued, his voice trembling slightly. "But when Aoki arrived, Nansa was already dying. Then Nansa died right in front of Aoki, and Aoki... Aoki couldn't accept that reality. Aoki was so devastated that he had to be sedated by the Medical Nin because he couldn't be calmed down."

Kuzan paused for a moment, swallowing hard before continuing, "Aoki still hasn't regained consciousness. Nansa's funeral will be held tomorrow morning."

Sakumo, hearing this explanation, felt his heart sink in sorrow. He didn't know what to do or say. Aoki's grief seemed to infect him. Sakumo could only take a deep breath, trying to suppress his own feelings.

"That's truly tragic," Sakumo finally murmured, his voice heavy with sorrow. "I mourn the death of Nansa. I hope Aoki can get through this..."

With a heart full of sadness, Sakumo knew that the only thing he could do right now was to support Aoki during this difficult time.

As the rain continued to pour heavily over the village, Sakumo and Kuzan stood in silence, each lost in their thoughts. They both thought of Aoki, still lying in the hospital, engulfed in deep sorrow.

In the quiet hospital room, Aoki slowly opened his eyes. His awareness returned, but confusion and sadness immediately overwhelmed him. Aoki didn't know how long he had been unconscious, but the fatigue and pain were still very clear.

"Aunt... Aunt Nansa!" Aoki suddenly shouted, his voice filled with despair. The memory of his last moments with his aunt made Aoki's chest feel tight.

"Why, why did Aunt Nansa have to...?" Aoki sobbed, tears streaming down his face. "Is it really that hard to have a family in this cruel Shinobi world?" Aoki's words were accompanied by heart-wrenching sobs, as if the entire world was collapsing around him.

After a while, Aoki's sobs began to subside. Though still painful, Aoki tried to calm himself, attempting to think more clearly.

In the corner of the room, Yono, who had been waiting faithfully, saw Aoki starting to calm down. "Boss... Aoki," Yono called gently.

Aoki heard Yono's voice and slowly lifted his head from the pillow. "Yono..." Aoki murmured, still with a hoarse voice.

Yono approached and sat by the bedside. "Boss, Aunt Nansa's funeral will be held tomorrow morning," Yono said, his voice sounding sad.

Aoki then nodded slowly, feeling the invisible burden growing heavier on his shoulders. "Thank you for the information, Yono," Aoki replied in a voice that was barely audible.
