Chapter 5 - EPISODE 5: DEMON ROOMMATE

Laura gently tapped Aurelio's shoulder, signaling him to drop the argument. Aurelio's gaze lingered on Ms. Everett, anger simmering in his eyes, before he sat down.

Ms. Everett's interest mixed with scorn as she watched Laura's intervention. "Very well, let's proceed," she said, her voice dripping with disdain.

The class continued in awkward silence, with Ms. Everett lecturing on wormhole theory. Laura and Aurelio exchanged occasional glances, their tension palpable.

After the class, Laura gathered her belongings and headed to her next classes, her mind replaying the confrontation.

As the day drew to a close, students filed out of the buildings, heading toward the dorms. Laura trudged along, lost in thought.

Suddenly, Aurelio caught up to her. "Hey, thanks for calming me down earlier."

Laura smiled, relieved. "No problem. We can't let her get to us."

Their conversation trailed off as they approached the dorm entrance.

Inside, students chatted and relaxed. Laura and Aurelio parted ways, agreeing to meet later.

Laura entered her dorm room, dropping her backpack onto the floor. She took a deep breath, expecting the solitude of an empty space.

Instead, she found a girl lounging on the adjacent bed, engrossed in a book. Laura's gaze lingered on her roommate, noticing:

- Long black hair with red shades on the front and back end

- Porcelain skin and delicate features

- Intense focus on the book

"Gurda, right?" Laura asked, breaking the silence.

Gurda didn't respond, nor did she look up. Her eyes remained fixed on the pages.

Laura felt a hint of awkwardness but tried again. "Hi, I'm Laura."

Silence.

Laura shrugged, unpacking her belongings. She changed into comfortable clothes and settled onto her bed.

As night fell, Gurda's reading lamp cast a warm glow. The air was thick with unspoken tension.

Laura's thoughts drifted to Ms. Everett's

 disturbing words and Aurelio's bravery.

Laura drifted off to sleep, but her rest was short-lived. She woke up at 12 a.m., feeling:

- Chilled to the bone

- Unsettled and uneasy

- Fear creeping up her spine

As she opened her eyes, a flashing red light illuminated her face. Disoriented, Laura turned to locate the source.

That's when she saw Gurda.

Gurda's legs were crossed, her body suspended in mid-air as if floating. A vibrant, crimson aura enveloped her, pulsating with an otherworldly energy.

Gurda's eyes remained closed, her face serene. Her lips moved silently, as if reciting an incantation.

Laura's heart raced. What was Gurda doing? Was this some kind of meditation or... something else?

Here's the revised scene:

Laura cautiously prepared to slip out of bed, but Gurda's sudden words halted her.

"I know you're awake," Gurda said, her voice low and mysterious. "Don't be scared. Demonic communication spells often have this effect on humans."

Laura's eyes widened. "You're a demon," she stated, her voice barely above a whisper.

Gurda's eyelids slowly lifted, revealing eyes that made Laura's heart skip a beat.

Blood poured from Gurda's eyes, streaming down her cheeks like crimson tears. The red light surrounding her body intensified, casting an eerie glow.

Laura froze, paralyzed by fear and fascination.

"I am a demon," Gurda confirmed, her gaze locking onto Laura's. "My ancestor, on my mother's side, fell in love with a human. Their union passed down human traits through our lineage."

Gurda's eyes gleamed with an otherworldly intensity.

"That's why I appear... human."

Laura's mind reeled, processing this revelation.

Here's a rewritten version with added details:

Laura's voice trembled. "Are you here to destroy the school?"

Gurda's expression turned disappointed, her brow furrowed. "Wow, we really did make a name for ourselves."

Her calm tone belied the menacing image Laura had of demons.

"Not all demons have that overwhelming urge to enslave planet Earth," Gurda clarified. "The principal knows what I am, and he doesn't judge me."

As she spoke, Gurda descended to the floor, her feet touching the ground with a soft thud. The red light surrounding her remained, but its intensity dimmed.

The blood receded from her cheeks, disappearing back into her eyes. Her gaze, now free from the crimson tears, locked onto Laura's.

"I want to show humans that not all demons are malevolent," Gurda said, conviction etching her features. "I envision a world where humans and demons coexist in harmony."

Laura sensed sincerity in Gurda's words.

"But..." Gurda's voice trailed off, her eyes clouding.

"My father and two older brothers don't share my ideology. They believe in domination, not cooperation."

Gurda's expression turned resolute.

"However, my mother understands me. She keeps those three... enthusiastic demons at bay."

A hint of affection crept into Gurda's voice when mentioning her mother.
