Chapter 17 - Long-Lost Treasure

Without much thought, and not dwelling much on this question. Kaiza made up his mind settling on an answer. He was certain. Kaiza chose his wife. But who wouldn't?

If this question truly was from his future, there was no way he would choose a stranger over someone he loved. Every hero was supposed to make that choice.

Furthermore, Kaiza readoned in his mind. This answer wasn't born from a vengeful side himself. He was being true to his nature. As a hero he is, he was supposed to save everyone, but most especially those dearest to him, like his wife.

What kind of hero would he be if he chose to save someone he hardly knew over someone he cherished? That feels wrong.

A border appeared around the option in Kaiza's mind, which displayed on the screen in front of him. As this showed on the screen then Kaiza thought further.

As a hero he would save his wife first because she is his priority and afterwards then find a means to get the citizen out of danger. He would do everything he could to ensure both of them survived.

Unbeknownst to him, as he committed to this choice I'm his mind, his scores were updated. Instead of a three point he was awarded one point added to his score bar. But Kaiza didn't notice, as he was still lost in his thoughts considering how he would save both victims as quickly as possible.

At that moment the stats were again updated. This time, his bar was raised higher and filled with extra points, which was indicated at the top of the battery bar. Looking up, Kaiza eagerly anticipated his score, feeling confident he had answered correctly though his thoughts were unstable. As a hero, he knew he wasn't supposed to save one and leave others behind. Regardless of who he saved first. He would always try to get everyone out of danger.

When he looked at the screen, he then noticed the updated stats which surpassed his expectations. It was beyond what he had expected to see.

After, the score scrolled off the screen and new messages appeared.

Just as these messages popped up, Kaiza felt a rush of excitement and tried to shout out in excitement, but noticed his hand was somewhat stuck to the screen.

It was as though his palm was glued in place, making it impossible for him to move it, not even an inch. Just then, suddenly, a surge of energy flowed into his body through his palm laid against the screen. It wasn't painful, nor was it pleasant. A strange feeling somewhere in between.

Kaiza wasn't sure what was happening to him at the moment. He didn't know what it felt like or even how to react. At a point it felt like electricity or fluid. He couldn't identify what it was, just something he had never experienced before was happening to his body.

Just then he felt himself lose control over his body. His body felt limb, weaker than it had when M. Boss had injected that mysterious fluid into his neck. His body sagged, though his hand remained stuck to the screen, keeping him upright. Also he could stand, but aside from this, every other part of his body was powerless.

As the last message displayed, a purple light was seen surging from Kaiza's palm, spreading through his body to other parts like an electrical current. When it got to his neck, Kaiza, previously brown, human eyes flicked open, now glowing purple and white. With a thud, his palm was finally released, causing him to collapse to the ground.

Meanwhile outside the cave, M. Boss had just woken from his quite long sleep. He stood up at once, processing what he had seen last before finally passing out. As he pondered on this, the scene of purple light and Kaiza seemingly merging with the ground replayed in his head, like a movie stuck on repeat.

The scene baffled him. He'd suspected Kaizas wasn't ordinary and had concluded in his assumptions that he might be a mixed blood. But walking into the ground was something strange, beyond extraordinary. Then he remembered his back was injured and just as he thought about the wounds, it began to heal.

The man then grabbed his phone and made a call.

"I just sent you my live location. Do a quick search on the area.!" His tone was commanding, making it obvious he was speaking to either a subordinate or peer. Anger and frustration tinged his voice, especially as he remembered failing to get what he had come this far for. He had underestimated this kid, only to discover he was something exceptional.

The thought of being defeated by Kaiza flushed his face with anger. He gritted his teeth, veins bulging as his fury grew.

Not long after this, he received a call back from the person he reached out to minutes ago.

"Did you find anything?" He immediately barked after he picked up the call.

"There is something massive on that land, but there's a barrier blocking our servers from gathering more information. It might be the Alien Power Lab" the mysterious person said and after kept silent.

"The Alien Power Lab?" M. Boss echoed, looking around him with amazement and at the same time disbelief. He couldn't believe he had discovered the long-lost treasure Human races had for sought for, for so long

The Alien Power Lab, was a legendary place created fifty years ago after the attack of the Dowolves. The alien had defeated the Dowolf and helped clear the affected human off earth surface. The alien made alliance with Human and warned that this wasn't going to be the end of this war because more of such creatures would invade earth once more, though their purpose remained unknown.

So to aid humanity and keep this new found home from the Dowolf and the Zutan attack. The aliens created ability-enhancing books and a power lab to forge a breed of soldiers they called "Heroes"

But human beings launched a war against the alien's to seize their powers. The last of the alien's sealed the lab, ensuring it was never found again.

Many didn't believe the story but supernatural beings like M. Boss did and he had searched for the lab for decades. To realize he had been after a "piece of gold" only to find a "pillar of gold" filled him with excitement.

He then gave his final orders to the person on the line.

"Get the team and be here ASAP"
