Chapter 6 - Rescue plan

Back when Kaiza ran into the forest, disappearing until his return to the city. M. Boss instructed his men, the bike-riders, to follow him at a close distance rather than forcefully getting him to surrender the briefcase to them.

M. Boss had better plans to get the boy to submit the briefcase himself willingly in exchange for something. He had already gotten to Will Liam and was presently holding him hostage.

The bikers obeyed and made sure Kaiza arrived at exactly where they wanted. That was why they held back and never fired at him, adding to Kaiza's suspicions as he made his journey through the city to the dark construction site without being chased.

Now, the bikers men were out again, scouring the city after he had managed to escape again.

Despite losing his parents that night, his mind was almost entirely focused on escaping M. Boss men and rescuing Will Liam.

Kaiza, who had climbed to the rooftop of the same building, watched as the bikers rushed out into the city in different directions, searching for him.

Impatiently, he waited a little longer, hoping to see the mysterious man he had accidentally shot with the flashlight-gun energy. But neither the man nor the armed guards came out.

"Why aren't they coming out?" Kaiza asked himself after waiting for what felt like eternity. His thoughts then shifted to why he was really here. His uncle, Will Liam. Why had Will instructed him to come here in the first place? Questions crept into his mind.

"Is Will with them? Is he being held hostage?" he had no answers, neither was he able to come to a conclusion. Everything had happened too quickly. All Kaiza had seen was the far end of the room, where the mysterious man was standing and a man kneeling almost next to him.

"Was that Uncle Will?" His heart raced. It was definitely Will.

M. Boss had captured his uncle and used his device to lure Kaiza into this dark part of the city. All To get the briefcase himself and silence him.

If that was Will, then Kaiza needed a plan to rescue his uncle without handling the briefcase. His father's last words still echoed in his head. If he wanted anything right now, that was to honor his parents wishes and become the person they had envisioned him to be. He had to save his uncle no matter the cost.

After strategizing for a while, Kaiza came up with a rescue plan. First he would need to enter the building from a different entrance to get a clearer view of his enemies. Then he could conclude what his next move would be.

Kaiza felt a bit confident, having trained in martial arts throughout middle and high school, even becoming the captain of the club. Though it wasn't very active anymore. However things were different, he'd never fought real, armed enemies before. This was the first.

Following the news of the Dowolf Beast, martial art has been reintroduced, and students took it seriously. Kaiza was one of these students because he wanted to survive the Dowolf Beasts when they finally appeared. Though he hadn't trained to defend against such threats yet.

Kaiza scanned the area for a way into the building beside the main door and the rooftop door. This was because he wanted to get in the building without alerting them of his strikeback. Also he assumed guards might have been posted there.

Apart from the doors, there was another way he could get in. There was a scuttle. Cautiously he pulled it open and crawled inside.

A few moments later, Kaiza arrived in a dimly lit room filled with nothing else but construction materials.

Quietly, he made his way out of the room leading him to a corridor, overlooking a vast hall below. At the moment, the space had been lit dimly, making it possible to see everything clearly beneath him.

"Uncle Will!" Kaiza spotted him immediately, engaged in a fistfight with the man Kaiza had shot earlier. But strangely, the man didn't didn't appear to be injured at all.

Within seconds, the man single handedly fights back at Will, dodging all his attacks. He overpowered him, forcing him to the floor and pinning his arms behind his back.

The scene only fueled the anger in Kaiza, but he kept his cool. He could now vividly see how many men were down there, so he began executing his plan.

Just as Kaiza was lost in his thoughts, strategizing the best course of action, he heard a voice behind him.

"Freeze!"

"Damn it!" He muttered, raising his hand subconsciously in the air.

His plans had been shattered, there was no way he could strike now, not with every man in the building alerted to his presence.

But how did they find him so quickly? There must have been a tracker.

Kaiza stood still, and obeyed the guards without any attempt to fight them as they escorted him to the vast hall. Now, he was standing before his opponent and his rage only grew wider as he saw his uncle's face brutally damaged. His face was covered in blood and bruises. His eyes slowly shut like he was about to fall into an unconscious state.

"If only he was alone," Kaiza thought bitterly. "I'd fight him right here"Within Kaiza, he had an escape plan. Setting Will free and having a little fight against this man. But things went absurd.

Luckily, they haven't taken his bag from him yet, which meant he still had a chance to fight back. He just needed the right moment.

Kaiza wanted to get things done before he alerted the bike men and got back here. Things would get tougher if that happens. He already has five men to fight against now.

"I knew you would come back for your uncle, You truly are your father's son. Your father always played the hero, just like you" M. Boss said, looking up from his tablet, smirking.

Kaiza's anger flared upon the mention of his father. His words struck a chord of sadness and anger in him. Memories of the attack in the forest flooded back in, and he struggled to control the rage bubbling inside him. Kaiza couldn't reckon yet with his mind that that happened less than an hour back.

He wanted to grab M. Boss by the throat and put a stop to his existence. Because the man was responsible for his parents death. But instead, he forced himself to take deep steady breaths to tame his popping veins.

Just then, M. Boss signaled to his men, the one holding Kaiza down on his knees. The man yanked Kaiza's bag off and handed it over to him.

Kaiza took a look at his uncle, lying helplessly on the floor under M. Boss feet. And all that conveyed to him is that he needed to act soon or else his chances would wear out.

M. Boss struggled with the bag attempting to open it. He did this over and over yet the bag refused to open. Unknown to the man, the bag had a fingerprint and passcode which was used to unlock it, granting access to the content within it.

It was then Kaiza spoke, his tone both explanatory mocking.

"Sir, the bag has a code. I have to unlock it before you can get inside"

After that, Kaiza noticed traces of anger gradually lacing the man's features, he was embarrassed by what Kaiza had just said.

But how could he not know? This backpack was a product of his own company, after all.

Without warning, M.Boss pulled out a knife. Kaiza's breath caught. Was he going to kill him?

To Kaiza's surprise, M.Boss attempted to cut the bag open. Kaiza burst out laughing, even at such a tense moment.

"Sir, you can't do that"

"Why not?" M. Boss snarled, anger evident in his tone. His knife paused mid air.

"Because you will destroy the briefcase inside," Kaiza said with a grin. "If you don't mind I will unlock the bag for you. On one condition. You will let me and my uncle go"

Kaiza saw this as his one opportunity to save his uncle and himself. But what about the briefcase?

M. Boss let out a cold chuckle "Are you trying to bargain for your freedom?"

"Please, sir, he is the only family I have left" Kaiza pleaded.

"That is not my problem." M. Boss sneered "Your father brought this on himself, trying to fix a broken world and playing the hero. Now, you've lost your mother too"

After the man said that. Will groaned from beneath M. Boss' foot "My sister... She is dead?"

Kaiza's heart sank. He didn't know what to say at the moment. He wasn't going to break the news to Will just yet but unfortunately, there was no hiding the truth. He felt the sting of tears welling up in his eye as he heard his uncle's anguished cry.

It was then it all downed on him. He felt the sharp, cutting pain of loss. His mother was truly gone. The person who loved him more than herself was no more.
