Chapter 27 - Chapter - 27 (18+)

The eerie silence was broken only by the faint hissing of acid droplets sizzling on the ground. He stood still, his cursed energy radiating around him like a protective aura, his senses on high alert. The fog wasn't natural—it was conjured by the Two-Headed Devil, a deliberate ploy to disorient him.

His sharp mind raced. He couldn't afford to panic. This was no ordinary fog; it clung to him, chilling his skin and muffling every sound. Even his cursed energy seemed to pulse weaker within its oppressive grasp.

"Trying to play games?" he muttered under his breath, his voice low but resolute.

Suddenly, a faint rustling came from his right. He turned sharply, unleashing a burst of cursed energy in the direction of the sound, but it struck nothing but air. Another sound echoed from his left—a guttural chuckle, mocking and taunting him.

The Two-Headed Devil was toying with him, using the fog to obscure its movements and wear him down. He clenched his fists, the pain from his earlier injuries flaring as his cursed energy surged.

"Coward," he growled, his voice cutting through the silence. "Hiding won't save you from me."

He closed his eyes briefly, shutting out the disorienting haze and focusing on the vibrations around him. His cursed power rippled outward, feeling for the devil's presence like a web of invisible threads. It was faint but unmistakable—a heavy, monstrous presence moving through the fog.

Without hesitation, he lashed out, sending tendrils of cursed energy spiraling in the direction of the disturbance. This time, they connected. A roar of pain echoed through the fog, shaking the ground beneath his feet.

The fog shifted slightly, the devil's silhouette briefly visible again before it vanished once more. He smirked despite the tension.

"So, you do bleed," he muttered.

The battle wasn't going to be easy, but he had no intention of backing down. He adjusted his stance, his cursed power crackling around him, and prepared for the next move. The fog might have been the devil's domain, but he would find a way to turn it against his enemy.

The fog pressed in like a living thing, heavy and oppressive, as Kaito's breathing steadied. His cursed power flared around him, crackling with dark energy that illuminated the immediate area. The faint silhouette of the Two-Headed Devil loomed in the distance, a monstrous form shrouded in the swirling mist. Every step he took forward was deliberate. his senses straining to locate his target.

Suddenly, the devil struck. One of its grotesque heads lunged out of the fog, jaws snapping with deadly speed. Kaito reacted instantly, dodging the attack with a swift sidestep, his cursed energy forming a spear-like tendril in his hand. With a growl, he hurled the energy forward, the spear slicing through the fog and embedding itself in the devil's shoulder.

The creature roared in pain, both heads letting out guttural howls that reverberated through the fog. Kaito smirked, his confidence surging as he stepped into the attack. "Is that all you've got?" he taunted, his voice cutting through the mist.

The Two-Headed Devil lunged again, this time swiping with its massive claws. Kaito ducked, his movements sharp and precise. With a burst of energy. he leaped into the air, landing a devastating blow with a blast of cursed power that sent the devil staggering backward. The ground trembled beneath its massive frame as it struggled to regain balance.

Kaito pressed his advantage, his cursed energy wrapping around his fists as he charged forward. Each strike landed with the force of a thunderclap. black and violet energy searing the devil's flesh. The creature howled in fury, its acidic blood splattering the ground as Kaito pummeled it relentlessly.

But then, the air shifted. A sudden, chilling stillness settled over the battlefield. The fog thickened unnaturally, and for a moment, even the sounds of the fight seemed muted. Kaito paused, his instincts screaming a warning.

From within the fog, the Two-Headed Devil let out a low, guttural laugh. Its form began to change, its already grotesque body expanding and twisting into something far more horrifying. Both heads snarled as their mouths widened unnaturally, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth. The acidic drool pouring from their jaws hissed violently as it hit the ground.

"So, you've been holding back," Kaito muttered, his smirk fading into a grim expression.

The devil moved faster than Kaito could have anticipated. In an instant, it was upon him, one massive claw slamming into his chest and sending him flying backward. He crashed into the ground with a force that cracked the earth beneath him, his cursed energy flickering erratically as he struggled to rise.

Before he could recover, the devil was on him again. one head spewing a jet of acid while the other lashed out with its claws. Kaito managed to roll out of the way, but the acid grazed his side, searing through his flesh. The pain was blinding, and he gritted his teeth, forcing himself to stand despite the agony.

The Two-Headed Devil roared, sensing its advantage. It launched a relentless assault, its claws and acid attacks coming in rapid succession.

Kaito fought back with everything he had, his cursed energy lashing out like living weapons, but the devil's newfound power was overwhelming. Each attack left him more battered, his movements slowing as exhaustion set in.

For a moment, it seemed like the battle was over. The devil struck him with a devastating blow, its claw ripping through his chest and sending him crashing to the ground. Blood pooled beneath him as he lay there, gasping for air. The fog swirled around him, and the devil loomed above, both heads snarling triumphantly.

"You're finished." the devil growled, its voice a chilling blend of both heads speaking in unison.

But Kaito wasn't done. Not yet.

As the devil raised its claw for the killing blow. Kaito's eyes snapped open, glowing with an intense blue light. His cursed energy surged, more powerful than ever, enveloping him in a dark, crackling aura.
