Chapter 22 - Evil Spirit Pursuit

Wang Quan left the Wang family ruins and quickly made his way to the location of his sect mission. His mind was still filled with the shocking revelations and mysteries about his family, but at the moment, his priority was to complete the task and avoid the threat of the evil spirits.

The mission was to eliminate a fox demon at the fifth level of Qi Refinement, which had been terrorizing nearby villages with its illusions. The villagers had been tormented for a long time, and while several disciples from the Yunxiao Sect had been dispatched, they had fallen into the fox demon's traps, unable to complete the task.

When Wang Quan arrived at the mission site, the surrounding forest was shrouded in a light mist. Through the mist, the eerie cries of a fox could be heard, alternating between laughter and weeping, disorienting anyone who listened.

"So, this is the fox demon's illusion…"

Wang Quan narrowed his eyes, stopping briefly before activating the Five Elements Secret Technique to protect his mind. The circulating spiritual energy within him created a stable Five Elements cycle, rendering the mist's illusions ineffective.

"Mere illusions won't stop me."

He expanded his spiritual sense, quickly locking onto the fox demon's aura. Hidden deep within the mist, the fox demon blended seamlessly with the environment, its presence elusive. For an ordinary person, finding it would be a daunting task, but with Wang Quan's mastery of the Five Elements technique, his mind was steady and clear.

Without hesitation, Wang Quan unsheathed his sword. The blade shimmered with a golden aura, imbued with the power of metal, and he slashed toward a shadow in the mist.

"Slash—!"

The sword's light struck like lightning, cutting through the fox demon's illusions, revealing its true form.

The fox demon had a slender body and glowing, sinister eyes. It glared at Wang Quan, letting out a sharp screech as it attempted to cast another illusion. However, Wang Quan remained calm and unmoved, his Five Elements technique guarding his mind, preventing the illusions from affecting him.

"You'll be finished in just a few strikes."

With a swift step, Wang Quan appeared before the fox demon. His sword, now blazing with the power of fire, sliced through the air and landed on the fox demon's head before it could react. Blood splattered as the demon fell to the ground, slain on the spot.

The mission was swiftly completed. Wang Quan sheathed his sword and turned to leave without hesitation.

As he headed back to the sect after finishing the task, sorting through his thoughts, a sudden, bone-chilling coldness crept over him. The feeling pierced his very core, sending a wave of terror down his spine.

"Not good… Could the evil spirit be tracking the Inverse Law bloodline?"

Wang Quan's heart sank. He quickly spread his spiritual sense, scanning the surroundings. In the distance, he spotted a dark gray shadow speeding toward him. The shadow exuded an aura of death and malice, as if it had come from the underworld.

His eyes narrowed in shock—he recognized it as a Nascent Soul-level evil spirit.

"A Nascent Soul-level spirit… I'm lucky it's only that. If it were something stronger, I wouldn't even have a chance to escape!"

Fear surged through Wang Quan. Though his strength had grown, he knew he was no match for such a powerful spirit. Swiftly, he pulled out the teleportation talisman he had obtained from the secret room of the Wang family. With no time to spare, he activated the talisman, preparing to flee.

"Buzz—!"

In an instant, the talisman's light enveloped Wang Quan, and his figure vanished just as the Nascent Soul evil spirit reached his location, missing its target by mere seconds.

The evil spirit roared in fury, searching the area, but unable to locate Wang Quan, it continued tracking the residual aura of the Inverse Law bloodline, flying off in pursuit.

But it wasn't the only one hunting him.

Several larger, more menacing shadows appeared on the horizon. Their powerful auras distorted the very spiritual energy around them. These evil spirits were far beyond the Nascent Soul stage, their strength incomprehensible. Their relentless pursuit of Wang Quan had now begun.

Wang Quan reappeared near the market town close to Yunxiao Sect after teleporting, his heart still racing.

"That was too close… If I'd been even a moment slower, I'd have been caught by the spirit!"

He let out a deep breath, knowing that the evil spirits would not easily give up their chase. For now, he was safe in the bustling market, as the evil spirit's aura didn't seem to follow him here.

Standing in the market, Wang Quan's expression was serious. He knew that time was of the essence—he needed to maximize the resources at his disposal and increase his strength as quickly as possible to face the challenges ahead.

He walked into a spirit material shop and took out half of the resources he had now obtained in his hands and traded them with the shopkeeper.

'The spirit stones must be exchanged for materials that will help in the cultivation of the Five Elemental Mystic Techniques for the rest of the cultivation.'

After some bargaining, Wang Quan finally exchanged a large number of materials suitable for five elemental secret method cultivation, including rare resources such as gold spirit stones, fire spirit crystals, and wood spirit grasses. These materials could help him increase his strength more smoothly in his future cultivation.

Feeling slightly relieved, Wang Quan finally returned to the sect and reported the completion of his mission.

"The threat of the evil spirits still looms, but for now, under the sect's protection, I have time to continue cultivating and strengthening myself."

Wang Quan made up his mind to keep a low profile while steadily growing stronger. He knew that while Li Cang posed a present danger, the evil spirits tracking his Inverse Law bloodline were the true catastrophe waiting to strike.

"Only by becoming more powerful can I protect myself… and safeguard the Wang family's bloodline."

As he gazed at the distant peaks of Yunxiao Sect, a determined light flickered in Wang Quan's eyes.
