Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

Islyl takes a deep breath, steeling his mind.

"The memory of the dean's office is still fresh in Islyl's mind. He can almost feel the weight of the dean's disappointment as he sits in the uncomfortable chair, his heart pounding in his chest."

The door to the dorm room suddenly bursts open, and Max storms in, his eyes blazing with anger.

"Islyl… What the hell was that about earlier?" he demands, his voice echoing through the room.

Islyl looks up, surprised by Max's sudden entrance. He tries to maintain his cool demeanor, but he can feel his heart rate speeding up.

"Max… what are you doing here?" Islyl asks, trying to sound nonchalant.

*Max's face twists in anger and hurt as he hears Islyl's question. His eyes are red and puffy, as if he's been crying.*

"You know damn well why I'm here," he says, his voice shaking. "You humiliated me."

Islyl feels a pang of guilt as he sees the pain in Max's eyes. He knows he went too far, but he can't go OOC. He almost considers asking the system for help, that useless thing

Sigma: T.T *ignoring host*

"It was just a joke, you're overreacting. Can you leave me alone?" Islyl says with face full of stone.

Max's eyes widen in shock as Islyl tells him to leave him alone. He looks hurt and betrayed, as if Islyl's words have cut him deeply.

"Is that all I am to you?" he whispers, his voice barely audible. "A joke? Something to be played with and discarded?"

Islyl's expression hardens as he responds to Max's question.

"You're the one who got all emotional over a little teasing," he says dismissively. "I didn't start a problem, you did. You can't handle a little bit of fun, and now you're acting like a drama queen."

Islyl pauses,

"I thought you were a man."

Max's voice trembles with emotion as he speaks, his words coming out in stutters.

"Y-you don't care about how I feel, do you? You don't think this is going too far? You're just going to keep doing it because you think it's funny."

Max takes a deep breath, trying to steady himself, but his emotions are still overwhelming him.

"I-I thought you were different," he says, his voice cracking. "I thought you actually forgave mex But I was wrong. You just used me to get your kicks."

Islyl's heart sinks as he sees the hurt and betrayal in Max's eyes. He knows he's crossed a line, but he can't let his emotions show. He takes a deep breath and responds coldly.

"I never said I cared about you, Max. You are really overthinking everything."

Max's eyes narrow as he hears Islyl's dismissive words.

"Overthinking everything? Are you serious?" Max's voice rises with indignation.

Max's voice becomes more aggressive and raw as he speaks.

"You son of a bitch," he spits out. "You played with my mind, and now you have the nerve to tell me I'm overthinking things? You're a goddamn liar and a jerk, and I hate you!"

Islyl is taken aback by the intensity of Max's anger, but he tries to maintain his cool facade.

"Max, calm down," he says, his voice a little softer. "You're being irrational."

Max storms out of the room, slamming the door behind him. As he leaves, he turns back to Islyl and says in a low, venomous voice,

"You're not worth my time or my energy. I'm done with you. Don't ever talk to me again. If you do, I'll kill you!"

Islyl is left alone in the room, feeling a mix of guilt and frustration. He knows he messed up, but he can't let his emotions get the better of him. He takes a deep breath and tries to focus on his mission, but Max's words keep replaying in his mind.

Sigma, finally unable to ignore the turmoil within him and tries to comfort him: 'Is everything okay, Islyl? You seem upset.'

Islyl looks down at the ground, his voice heavy with regret.

"I'm not just upset, Sigma. I'm disgusted with myself. I had to string Max along for this stupid mission for the Dean, and now I don't even see the point. I've been gaslighting him and for what? So I can get acknowledged as a competent puppet?

Islyl slumps down onto a nearby chair, his head in his hands.

"I never wanted it to come to this. I never wanted to be here.I never wanted to hurt him. But I had to do what the Dean told me to do. And I have to follow what the system orders. I'm a puppet to the dean, and ultimately, to you, Sigma."

Sigma remains silent, letting Islyl process his emotions. After a few moments, Islyl looks up at the ceiling, his eyes filled with sadness.

"What do I do now, Sigma?"

"I will help you, Host. You have a skill called 'Mind Fill' do you remember?"

Sigma explains,

"The mind fill skill allows me to help you clear your mind and focus on the task at hand. It can help you process your emotions and make decisions more objectively."

Islyl feels a sense of calm wash over him. His thoughts become clearer, and he feels a sense of clarity that he hasn't felt in a while.

"You're right, Sigma. I can't let my emotions control me. I need to focus on the mission and move forward."

Islyl's expression becomes blank, and his eyes glaze over. He feels a sense of detachment from his emotions, but also feels clear minded, the former feelings of depression and anxiety nonexistent.

Islyl stands up from the chair, his movements mechanical and precise. He looks down at his hands with a cold, emotionless expression.

"Thank you, Sigma. I feel much better now. I can focus on the mission without being distracted by my emotions."

Islyl walks towards the door, his steps confident. As he approaches the door, he sees Liam and Zachary standing outside, waiting for him.

Liam takes a step forward, his voice firm.

"Islyl, what the hell was that?"

Liam's expression is stern, his eyebrows furrowed in anger. His jaw is clenched, and his eyes are filled with disappointment.

Zachary, on the other hand, looks more sympathetic. His eyes are wide with shock, and his mouth is slightly open as if he's trying to find the right words to say.

Zachary stutters as he tries to speak, his face turning red with embarrassment. He finally manages to get out a simple greeting.

"H-hey, Islyl..."

Islyl looks at Zachary with a cold, emotionless expression, his voice devoid of warmth.

"Yes?"

Zachary hesitates for a moment, clearly intimidated by Islyl's demeanor. He takes a deep breath and tries to speak again.

"I just... I wanted to know if you're okay. I mean, just now.."

Islyl raises an eyebrow, his expression unchanging.

"I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?"

Liam chimes in, his voice sharp.

"You're fine? Yeah? I know you guys had your problem, but you settled it. He got beat up, and you got the apology."

Islyl rolls his eyes, his patience wearing thin.

"Yes, we settled it. So whatever happens after, it's none of your fucking business right?"

Liam takes another step forward, his anger flaring up.

"It is my business, Islyl. Quite frankly, I don't like you, Islyl. Something about you makes me feel like there's something wrong with you. I don't trust you, and I really wish you'd just pack up and leave."

Islyl smirks, his expression cold and calculating.

"You don't like me? How original. And what, you think I care what you think of me? You're just a pathetic little puppy, barking at me because you can't handle something dirty."

Liam's face turns red with anger, and he clenches his fists.

"You son of a-!"

Zachary quickly steps in between Liam and Islyl, trying to diffuse the situation.

"Liam, calm down. Let's not make this worse. Also, we don't really know the full story, so…"

Liam glares at Zachary, his eyes blazing with anger.

"Oh, so you're taking his side now?"

Zachary holds up his hands in a placating gesture.

"I'm not taking anyone's side, Liam. I just think that maybe, we should mind our own business. It hasn't even been long since classes started, Liam. We don't really know each other."

Liam scoffs, clearly still angry.

"Yeah, well, maybe we should. I mean, if we're going to be living in the same dorm and all, we should at least try to get along, right?"

With this, Liam walks past Islyl towards his bed, bumping into his shoulder with force.

Islyl is caught off guard by the sudden collision, and he stumbles backwards a few steps. He quickly regains his balance and turns to face Liam, his expression now filled with anger.

Islyl takes a step closer to Liam, his fists clenched at his sides. He leans in close, his voice low and menacing.

"You're really testing my patience, you know that?"

Liam, unable to contain his anger any longer, lunges at Islyl, throwing a punch.

"I'm not afraid of you, you bastard!"

Islyl easily dodges the punch and counters with a swift kick to Liam's stomach, his body bending over in pain.

"You really should be more careful. You're not as tough as you think you are."

Islyl grabs Liam's hair, slamming his knee into his nose.

Liam falls to the ground, clutching his nose as blood pours out. He looks up at Islyl with a mixture of anger and pain in his eyes.

"You bastard! You broke my nose!"

Islyl looks down at Liam, his expression unreadable. He's trying to keep up the tough guy act, but he can't help but feel a pang of guilt.

"Yeah, well, you should've thought twice before picking a fight with me."

Zachary rushes over, his eyes wide with panic.

"Guys, stop it! You're going to kill each other!"

Liam grits his teeth, still clutching his bleeding nose. He knows that Islyl is stronger than him.

"Doesn't that statement sound wrong looking at me?!" He screeches, feeling betrayed to be lumped with this piece of shit.

Zachary sighs, clearly frustrated.

"Look, I don't care who started it, you both need to stop before this gets any worse. Can't you just talk like civilized people? Or better yet, ignore each other?"

All of a sudden, a force of powerful pressure appears, suffocating Islyl until he drops, clutching his neck, his breath fading. Liam and Zachary are no different.

Zachary and Liam both gasp for air, struggling to breathe as the powerful pressure surrounds them. They look around, trying to figure out what's happening, but they can't see anything.

The pressure lightens up slightly, and a figure appears.

The three students look up in shock as they see Xavier standing there, his presence commanding and intimidating. They can feel the pressure slowly dissipating as he approaches them.

Xavier looks at the three students, his expression stern.

"What is the meaning of this?"

Islyl immediately thinks that he sounds like a certain character from a movie when he finds the main character searching forbidden corridors.

Sigma: TxT I like the movie too, host.

Islyl, still struggling to catch his breath, tries to speak.

"We were just having a disagreement, sir."

Xavier crosses his arms and glares at the three students.

"A disagreement? Is that what you call this? You may as well spar. I expected better from all of you, especially you, Islyl."

Islyl shivers as he feels the pressure wrapping around him. He can feel it probing at his skin, like it's trying to find a weakness.

He turns his gaze to Liam.

"And you, why are you on your knees?"

Liam tries to stand up, but he's still a bit shaky from the pressure. He looks at Xavier with a mixture of defiance and fear.

"I fell, sir"

Xavier raises an eyebrow, clearly not buying it.

"Fell?"

Liam nods, trying to sound convincing.

"Yes, sir. I tripped."

Zachary takes a deep breath and tries to keep his voice steady.

"Yes, sir. Liam tripped and fell, and we all thought it was funny... So we were pretending to do action moves from movies."

Xavier doesn't look convinced, but he decides to let it go for now.

"Fine. I'll let it slide this time. But if I catch any of you doing this again, there will be consequences. Understood?"

Xavier's gaze lingers on Islyl for a moment before he speaks.

"Zachary, take Liam to the infirmary. Now."

Zachary nods again and leads Liam away, leaving Islyl alone with Xavier.

Xavier raises his hand and uses a skill to block the door, ensuring that no one can enter or leave. He then approaches Islyl, his hand tightening around his throat.

"You're going to answer my questions, and you're going to answer them honestly. Do you understand?"
