Chapter 15 - The mana pond

3rd Person's POV:

"I had no clue the monsters in there were that very strong now." Sibat said as he continued running with Azrael on his back.

"Can I ask you a question?" Azrael said.

"Yes, master?" Sibat confirmed.

"When you were fighting the giant bat earlier, why didn't you use your crimson-looking state, you know, the one you used when we fought?" Azrael asked.

"Oh, unfortunately, master, I can only use that skill once a week... it's my final trump card if I run out of options." Sibat explained

While Azrael replied with a "ohhh, that's why"

---

Far ahead, Azrael spotted something shimmering. A pond of water.

As they got closer, Sibat said, "Here we are, Master."

"What's this?" Azrael asked, his gaze fixed on the glowing pond.

"A mana pond," Sibat replied. The water emitted a bright, radiant white light, almost like a glowing bulb.

"What? These are incredibly rare, right?" Azrael asked in disbelief.

"Yes," Sibat confirmed. "My pack and I have been guarding this since we discovered it. The mana flowing through the water here is dense and pure. I figured you might need it after fighting the giant bat. Your skills aren't yet at their full potential. This will help you grow drastically. All you need to do is swim to the center and absorb the mana accumulated in the pond."

Sibat added, "I've already healed my injuries since I still had some mana left after we escaped. So please, go ahead."

Azrael listened intently and then approached the pond. He stepped into the water, feeling it lap at his feet. Slowly, he walked forward, his steps cautious as he balanced on submerged rocks.

Reaching the center he closed his eyes as he felt the mana surges trough his body.

The once-glowing edges of the ponds water dimming as light began to fade, creeping toward the center before vanishing entirely. As the mana flowed into Azrael's body, he felt an overwhelming sense of relaxation and his strength growing.

System Notice:

Congratulations! You have absorbed your first mana pond.

Accumulating your level in process.

Sibat watched proudly as his master absorbed the mana. The pond, now devoid of its glow, now looked like an ordinary body of water.

Azrael opened his eyes, feeling revitalized, but his expression turned to shock and horror as he glanced at the bottom of the pond. It was filled with bones and skulls of countless unknown creatures. Terrified, he quickly got out of the water.

"Wha-what are those?!" Azrael stammered, his voice trembling.

"Master, I thought you already knew," Sibat said calmly.

"Knew what?" Azrael asked, still shaken.

"That mana gathered in any mana pond or lake comes from the residual mana of deceased creatures. Those bones are what remain." Sibat explained

"Oh my god, that's horrifying! I have never read about this in any book" Azrael said, still trying to process what he had seen. "I was just genuinely shocked, but i'm okay." Azrael said then added

"wait a moment I need to concentrate myself" then calling upon the system, while Sibat just watched his master.

(Wow, I gained so much, and I picked the Scythe, but I don't know how to use it honestly. Haha. I think I can figure it out when I fight monsters) Azrael thought as he swayed his arm sideways, feeling the Scythe materialize out of thin air.

Sibat was amazed by this sight but remained silent as he watched.

Azrael waved the Scythe around, testing different moves he could perform with it. Eventually, he stopped and decided to try out his new skills.

He used

Complete Copycat is summoned!

===\\

Azrael stared in disbelief at his splitting image standing in front of him.

Sibat, equally amazed, couldn't help but ask, "Master, that's you? How?"

"It's one of my new skills. It's sort of me, but not totally me," Azrael replied, further confusing Sibat.

"Can you talk?" Azrael asked the copycat.

"Yes, master," the copycat responded, kneeling down.

"Hey, hey, hey—get up," Azrael said immediately, as he watched the copycat kneeling. The copycat followed the command without hesitation.

"Never do that again—calling me master and kneeling to the ground. It's weird to see and hear myself like that, okay?" Azrael said, to which the copycat replied with a nonchalant, "Okay."

//===

System Notice:

Complete Copycat:

Due to the original user picking Sycthe as the main weapon copycat will use Necromancer's Stick as its main weapon instead.

===\\

(What? So they can use main weapons too, like mine, but a different one) Azrael thought as he watched the copycat summon the Necromancer's Stick.

To test the copycat, Azrael commanded, "Can you use Soul Blast?" while pointing to a rock near the pond as a target.

Without hesitation, the copycat aimed at the rock and fired a Soul Blast, shattering it into pieces.

//===

System Notice:

10 souls deducted from your inventory.

===\\

"Hahaha!" Azrael couldn't contain his excitement and was thrilled with the copycat skill.

"Master? Are you my real master?" Sibat asked hesitantly, approaching the ecstatic Azrael.

"Ah, yes. To identify your original master, this copycat uses a stick, and I use this weapon—the Scythe. That's it," Azrael explained.

"I see. So this is one of your summons too, Master?" Sibat asked.

"Exactly," Azrael confirmed.

"That's amazing, Master. I have never heard of such a skill," Sibat remarked.

"I guess I'm kind of unique," Azrael said with a proud grin.

Azrael looked at his copycat and said "From now on your name is Azy, so you'll have a proper name" Azrael said as then the copycat again replied a nonchalant "okay"

//===

System Notice:

4 skeleton summons died in battle.

===\\

"Wait, what the—?" Azrael muttered, confused by the notification.

"Ah, I forgot to unsummon my skeletons inside the cave. Did the cave completely collapse? If it didn't maybe they're still fighting inside, that must be why they died just now," Azrael said aloud.

"It's best if we go there ourselves, Master," Sibat suggested, offering a ride. Which Azrael immediately mounted Sibat.

"Uhmm, about Azy... Can you let him hitch a ride too? It costs so much mana to summon and resummon him. Haha," Azrael said.

"Not a problem at all," Sibat replied as he waited for the Azy to mount him.

"Come on, we need to go," Azrael instructed, and Azy obediently followed.

Once settled, Sibat sprinted swiftly toward his pack.
