Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: A Flame in the Darkness

The world blurred around me, but the image of my father's head... my mother's voice... they were burned into my mind. My body trembled uncontrollably, grief and rage twisting in my chest, suffocating me.

The entity's smirk cut through the haze of my despair, mocking my pain. His grin never wavered, as though he relished watching me suffer. My mind screamed in agony, but deep down, I realized something -there was no escaping this. It was fate, carved out for me, and my time was running out.

"I don't have a choice," I whispered to myself, the weight of the truth crashing down on me. "This is it."

With all the strength I had left, I screamed, "NOVA!" My sister's name echoed through the burning ruins, tears streaming down my face. "I love you!"

Blind rage consumed me. My body moved on instinct, every fiber of my being fueled by the searing pain in my heart. My eyes burned with fury, the world around me turning red as I charged toward the entity, fists clenched. I didn't care what happened next. All I wanted was to hurt him, to make him feel the pain I felt.

But he was fast-too fast. With a single, effortless motion, he kicked me squarely in the right side of my abdomen. The impact sent me flying backward, slamming into the wall with a sickening thud. Pain exploded through my body as blood trickled from my mouth. I coughed, trying to breathe, but every breath sent more pain through my ribs.

I heard footsteps approaching. My vision blurred.

"Gimme a break... was I too late?" The voice was female-sharp, filled with regret. "Shit!" she hissed, gritting her teeth.

Through the haze of my pain, I looked up. A girl stood there, her fiery red hair flowing down her back, and her eyes-crimson, fierce, like burning embers. She was beautiful, but in a terrifying way. Her presence was like a storm.

She turned her gaze toward the entity, her voice serious and cold. "What is a faction leader doing here, killing normal people?"

The entity chuckled, that damn grin never leaving his face. "Oh, my lord ordered it. I'm just here to eliminate the child and his family. Even I don't know why my lord would go to such lengths for a normal boy like him. Truly... a waste of time."

The girl narrowed her eyes. "I see."

Without warning, she cast a fierce fire spell beneath the entity, flames erupting from the ground. I blinked in shock. Her calm, controlled demeanor was a ruse-she had been distracting him all along.

But the entity's laughter echoed through the smoke. "Such petty tricks," he sneered. "Hahahaa!"

When the smoke cleared... they were gone. The girl had vanished, taking me with her.

The entity stood alone, his smirk growing wider. "Looks like you got away from me... for now. Let's see how long you can survive."

My head spun as I slowly regained my senses. My body was being jostled as if... someone was running. I opened my eyes and realized I was being carried. The girl -she was running, her crimson eyes focused straight ahead.

"Oi! Let me go!" I shouted, panic rising in my chest. "My mother! She's still there! We have to go back -take her with us!"

"Are you out of your mind?!" she snapped back, her voice sharp and unyielding. "There's no way she could've survived! She's already dead. And if we go back, we're going to die too! That entity is no joke!"

Her words hit me like a hammer to the chest. My mother... dead. It felt like the ground was crumbling beneath me. I wanted to scream, to fight her, but the pain and the truth weighed me down.

"But..." I stammered, barely able to form the words. "What... what are you talking about?"

She didn't look at me, her jaw clenched in frustration. "You'll get to know... in time."
