Lyra woke up the next morning feeling more tired than rested. Her mind was clouded with thoughts of the future. Alaric's plans still loomed over her like a storm, but she couldn't shake the feeling that she needed to act before it was too late.
She sat on the edge of her bed, staring out the small window at the soft sunlight peeking through the trees. Her son, still fast asleep in his crib, looked peaceful. The sight of him gave her strength, but it also filled her with worry. She had to protect him, no matter what.
Mina walked in quietly, carrying a tray of tea and bread. "Good morning, my lady," she said softly, setting the tray down on the table.
Lyra gave her a weak smile. "Morning, Mina. Thank you." She poured herself a cup of tea, the warm aroma filling the room.
"Did you sleep at all?" Mina asked, concern in her voice.
"Not much," Lyra admitted. "There's so much on my mind. I keep thinking about Alaric… and what his next move might be."
