Kit jolted in shock as he heard his father's voice inside of his mind, his harsh tone berating him at every misstep.
In his shock the scorpion swung its pincer forward and struck him hard in the chest, throwing him back into the stone wall.
Kit gasped as the air left his lungs and he crouched down on the floor to regain his breathing, massaging the aching scar across his torso, 'What the fuck was that?'
He had just been trying to do what Till had told him, his mind straying to thoughts of his father and then...
'I died because of your arrogance. I should never have asked them to save you instead. Look at what I left behind. You're pathetic.'
Kit's jaw clenched tightly, a surge of guilt and frustration causing his body to tremble.
