Chapter 3. "You should be careful, Till."
The next morning the recruits were gathered together on the wide open field in front of the academy.
The male soldiers only, had been made to line up in formation in front of a burly older man, with broad shoulders, and a perpetual scowl. He had been shouting insults at the group for the past 20 minutes and Till was growing bored.
He rested his hand on his hip and scanned the line of soldiers lined up in front of him, he caught sight of Kit just ahead and his heart stuttered in his chest at the way the sunlight brought out the golden accents to his, now cropped, blonde hair.
After the strange incident with the new vampire instructor, Kit had fallen back into the quiet, nervous state that he had descended into in the months following his father's death and had spent the evening before in near silence.
Till frowned at him in concern as their instructor gave them their task.
