When the night passed and the daybreak came, Ezra felt the familiar sensation of his body weakening as doubts began to seep into his mind whilst he stared up at the ceiling. Love was sprawled across his chest, her long black hair fanned out behind her across the pillow and Ezra could feel her steady breathing against his heart.
'What the hell came over me.' He lifted his hand and ran it through his hair as a deep frown settled on his face.
He had truly only come to speak with her to apologise for hiding his identity within the Helsing compound and to ask her if she had made a final decision on the mission that he and Faith had started. But as soon as he saw the way her eyes cooled, staring at him with that oddly detached expression, the silver light dimming to one that was regarding him with nothing but empty logic and a distinct lack of emotion, his words had slipped out without a second thought.
