Chapter 9 - All the power

Ian was surprisingly calm taking all this in. The words April spoke he understood, the weight of them, however, were lost to him … the supposed reality these humans faced was far and distant for him to grasp. He did not know what to ask or where to start, what was more important, however, was his immediate threat. "That massive ship was only a scouting ship for twelve people?" April's brows creased again, almost like being excited to show your friend something only for them to feign ignorance.

"No ,first, there was a group of six that had left to look out for you. Second, you did not see the entire ship and it's different departments you would have run into more people, I suspect Domnik might have played a hand in that as well"

"Those abilities back there, if Merim can teleport won't she be able to teleport to us?"

"You are smarter than 'him' it seems … but no, we are on an alien planet. Unless it's for short distances, Merim won't be teleporting randomly without sight and direction. Seeing as Domnik helped us, I doubt she would look to him to increase her probability of randomly teleporting next to you."

"You seem to understand her abilities well"

"Yes, I do … all of them really. That was my role to play. At her fourth level of "path manipulation" she can "teleport" both her and other objects or subjects several thousand kilometers, that is where me and Domnik would come in"

"I amplify her mental state, improve her "sight" as she taps in to the "sea" where the objects and subjects she would transport through to a different point in space. At her level, even within her range she needs a deep understanding and imprint of where she wants to "teleport" to because space does not remain still, it moves and so do the position of things. The "sea" she taps into I cannot explain because I cannot see or sense it only amplify her ability to do so"

"I also helped grounding her connection and the others to each other, because a sentient being and it's natural will can lead to resistance, even if unintentional. The craft, obviously, does not have a say in being teleported across the "sea" same as the main ship. Considering my "Mind Manipulation" ability it's easy for me to accept being teleported. It also helps that I was in the craft, for you not much explanation is needed"

She looked at the silent intensive Nai, "You really have nothing to say, or ask?"

"I understand most of what you mean, so this is the manifestation of the "Adjacency to Astral" ? Your abilities … they are different "

"Yes" excitedly she responded, she felt like a proud teacher, "It manifests in varied ways, most people are born with their "Adjacency" ability" she looked at him and for a slight moment something passed in her eyes.

"Merim was born with the "path manipulation" and has grown through the levels to the fourth, it's really impressive actually … "

"What about you?" Ian asked, he was definitely interested in knowing where his only help stood against his possible future threat.

"I'm at the third level" she replied, surprising Ian.

"But all you did back there? It was against them all … "

"No, like I said many factors are always at play and you forget I had Domnik's help. Even then I could only control Merim and only Merim's actions for two seconds nearly reaching my limit. Another fact, if Merim had intended to kill you immediately, there was not much I could have done. You were lucky to be her brother … at the end implanted my thoughts and feelings to save Nai, amplifying her own disbelief of your confession. However, because I was nearing my limit I could not control what emotions about Nai I wanted specifically, in the end I chose them all"

She chuckled before continuing, "Next time your sister sees you, she might not want to murder you but to sleep with you"

" … " Ian was slightly taken aback for a moment, but to him Merim really was not 'his' sister. Not that he would go through with it.

April still smiling looked at him and pointed at her bloody nostrils and cheeks, " The funny thing is after all this, Emotions about someone are cultivated and built over time. They are not something one can easily copy and paste onto someone else, so currently I am waiting for my astral soul to build up energy again before taking you back to Merim"

" … " Ian was now completely taken aback, he made to stand up. Right hand on the wall, left hand against the floor, he pushed himself up wearingly. April looked at him and his actions the bloody smile still on her face. Her soft and what would have been "cute" laugh filled the craft, "Relax, even though it is true I have lost all my feelings and emotions for Nai, I am not illogical … I can't exactly just take you back"

"I do not even know where we are in relation to the ship, we could be a few kilometers from it or on the complete opposite side of this planet … yes, this time Merim chaotically tapped into the "sea" in an attempt to punish us but still technically 'saving' Nai. More importantly, I still helped you and implanted thoughts of fucking her brother in her mind. She would not exactly accept me with open hands"

"But now that I'm not entirely clouded with increasing you're lifetime, we do need to get back to them. We can't be alone or left here on this alien planet, at least I do not want to be. Technically, even though risky, Merim should be able to take them off planet … at least with Domnik's help. When the rest that went out to look for you return, arguments of leaving will be raised. Merim will hold out for long but not forever"

"She intends to kill me, are you suggesting after all that I just serve myself to her?" Ian interrupted disbelief in his voice, "Why did you even help me then?"

"I'm not exactly a different person, but this must have been my plan … get you away from Merim before she kills you immediately to vent her anger out of shock of the revalation. After this, she will obviously spend a lot of time considering what had happened and when her mind and heart calm down her rationality will return. We go back with the strong negotiation of my help, now probably Domnik as well-"

"What exactly is my negotiation huh?" He was annoyed this time. ' Does she not see the holes in the plan for me, did she not completely think ahead'

"Back, getting back, like I said "Adjacency to Astral" manifests into different abilities. If you show your willingness to cooperate … then maybe someone can help. Merim would not have thought of that back then or chose to ignore it and just punish you, now she should be more reasonable"

"Maybe? You mean prisoner … and one on a death roll"

"Yes, you are right. What other choice do you exactly have? Run and remain here? Do you not want to be with other humans? And if you can go back and give back the body you stole would you not take the chance?"

"I did not steal it" His voice was monotone, not hurt, just seemingly tired of having to remind people.

"Yes, I'm sorry. Still it's true though … it's the only way, not only for her but for you. Not to mention, surviving here would especially be hard for you considering you do not exactly have an ability, or at least he did not have one"

He did not respond to her, standing over her their eyes were locked. He stood there in silence before walking away from her, nit really going anywhere considering the Hova did not exactly come with several rooms.

April looked at him walk away, the slight smile on her face turned to a grown before she turned to look straight a head at the wall. She wiped the blood from her nostrils  with her index finger and stared at it.
