Chapter 1 - Prologue

It's been nearly a century since the Fissures opened, leaking horrible monsters we called "Exiles" into our world to rip and tear everyone and everything. However, due to the Fissures opening, a strange energy infected the world as well, giving certain people abilities we call "Talents," along with special spells called "Skills." The talented banded together under a group called "The Venators." With this new system granted to us by the Fissures in order to fight against the Exiles, people were sorted by classes based on what their talents brought.

People given strength were labeled as warriors, the strong frontline and staples to the army against Exiles. Ones with speed and lethal attacks were called assassins, hunters who could dispatch their targets in the matter of seconds. Those who were given high durability were called tanks, defenders of the land and protectors of the forefront. Venators with precision in long ranged combat sorted themselves into either ranger or mages, depending whether they mainly depended on magical skills or weapons. And last, but not least, there were the supports, people who casted skills to strengthen others. All classes were seen equally and all had their own uses. Though... the "not least" part might not be totally accurate.

In the beginning of Fissure splitting, supports were fairly useful because there were no other forms of healing or buffs, and every Venator in existence were weaker. However, as time went on, people grew stronger and found new ways to heal themselves and increase their strength such as potions or self-buffing skills. As newer generations of Venators appeared, they were able to easily advance with the use of new training tactics. With everyone getting stronger in the means of battle, support Venators were easily over-shadowed due to their training mainly consisting of meditation and praying. Later on, supports soon found themselves at the bottom of the barrel, unable to find any way in advancing their strength and becoming the weakest of the weak.

Years after the Fissures began opening, it was soon discovered that Classes and Skills were hereditary, meaning that parents would pass on their traits to their children. New classes were made, such as battle mages, barbarians, and arcane gunners. Venators found most success in classes merged with the mage class, as they would have more access to skills and different sources of damage. Despite new classes being made with each generation of Venators, one class in particular began to fade away.

Not wanting to have their offspring potentially become a lowly support, many Venators chose to not couple with their kind, causing them to disappear, with the only traces of them being hidden in the DNA of a select few. Even if a person belonging to another class had a child with a support, it was impossible for a hybrid between the two classes to be formed. After discovering this, Venators found no purpose in having kids with supports, cutting down their population until barely anyone was left.

And just like that, a new age of battling Exiles began. One solely focused on natural selection between Venators and inches away from completely eradicating the weakest class. After all, it was for the better of humanity is it not? The weak must be cast off and removed from the strong. No matter the price that must be paid.
