A minute after Quinn announced the shard's formation, the phone rang.
Tasha's voice crackled through the speaker, sharp and steady. "One of the librarians reported a sharp tang of ozone near a meeting room—the classic early warning sign of an overgrowth. I advised them to evacuate. They're clearing out now, but it's your call from here."
Quinn flashed a confident grin.
"Who's the tech wizard? This person," they said, gesturing to themselves. "Our monitors all over town track shard surges like clockwork."
Gavin chuckled. "The Spindle would probably pay good money for a system like that."
Quinn's grin widened. "Already in talks."
Zoe clapped her hands sharply. "Focus. Shop talk later."
Quinn pulled up a large tablet, displaying a blueprint sourced from their wrist console for everyone to see.
