"Hey!… Julius, I am talking to, leave that young mage alone"
Fredrick exclaimed as he noticed Julius standing next to Lean.
Meanwhile,
"W—W—What do you mean?" Lean asked stuttering slightly. "I—I have magical power."
He was taken aback by the sudden interaction that Julius had with him.
Julius' presence was intimidating. And Lean was able to notice that he was no ordinary mage, he carried a very intense aura with him.
"Don't play games with my boy," Julius said softly. His voice had changed from the cheerful tone he had before to a more serious one." One of my specialties is sensing magic, and I have done that for as long as I can remember. However, among all the people standing here in this arena, you are the only one which I don't sense magic from.
"Who the hell are you?"
Hearing this, Lean took a quick gulp before saying softly. "I think you are mistaken, I do have magic within me."
It was a lie though.
Lean didn't have any magical power.
As one who was transmigrated into this world of magic rather than being given birth to, there was no magic that he inherited.
As for the body he now possesses, there should be at least a drop right? He would think. However, that was not how things were here in this world.
Of course, every single person had magic power within them—which is initially manifested through the use of mana. Possessing mana means being able to use magic.
However, when a body dies, the magic power of that person also dies.
"!!!"
Magic in this world is something connected to the soul and not the body.
So, if a soul departs from the body, the magic power will leave as well.
In other words, a body without magical power is a dead body.
However, that wasn't the case for Lean. Yes… he was not able to manifest magic just yet, but he had the system by his side.
"Hmph"
"Well, it doesn't matter," Julius muttered quietly as he left Lean's side.
Lean couldn't believe it; he was supposed to be an extra character in this novel, so no one was supposed to interact with him casually. Or so he thought.
From his point of view, he saw an extra as someone who was more like a background character or rather a ghost, which people wouldn't even notice at all, let alone interact with.
..
After leaving Lean's side, Julius walked back to where Fredrick was standing, touched him on his shoulder with a strained expression, and said. "Come on, we have to go back; there is a lot of work to be done."
This was just enough for Fredrick to know that there was something wrong, or rather there was a big matter at hand.
Was it about the incident during the examination? Or was it something more serious? He didn't know. However, whenever Julius puts that expression on his face, nothing good always lies behind it.
With a strained expression on Fredrick's face, he gently walked to the center of the twenty-five candidates who had passed the examination.
"As you all have heard, the final stage of the examination will not commence until a week, so I urge you all to hone your skills before then.
After he made his statement, everyone then departed from the arena to their various homes.
_
On his way home, Lean felt almost as if he had been hit with a rod in his heart.
The words that Julius said to him lingered in his thoughts.
'I can't sense a single drop of magic from your body. How do you plan on passing the final stage without any?'
Tch'
Lean became very annoyed; he had never felt this way before. He thought to himself.
'What have I been doing?'
'I thought with the system's power I was going to be unstoppable.'
'I can't even use magic power.'
'What good is the System anyways?'
All of these thoughts disturbed him as he walked back to the inn on the cheerful street of Luminastra.
Having witnessed the vast magical power that Alon displayed and also the strong aura that emitted from Julius' body. He knew that this world was no joke.
A world of magic, where one can be instantly killed if they were not able to protect themselves.
A world with magical creatures capable of destroying cities. And Magic itself— a supernatural force capable of producing successful and remarkable results when used rightly or wrongly.
This wasn't the fantasy novel that he had read. This was now his reality.
"Hmph… what am I even pissed off for. I just came into this world, and with a body that is half the age of my previous life. If I keep worrying about such unnecessary things, I might just reach that age quickly."
Lean began to cheer himself up. Knowing he wasn't supposed to rush things, he made himself think of his problems as more of a distraction to his new life.
"By the way, I have seen most of the main cast of the novel. And there are still more to come. There are so many things that I have yet to see, many, many things. What is the worst that could happen?"
And that was when it hit him.
His voice began to slow down as he thought of the worst thing that could happen.
The Fallens.
This was the worst thing that could happen; if he were to encounter a single one, at his current level, he was sure to be a dead man once again.
The thought of encountering a fall made his body shiver. These creatures are nothing like the monsters he fought back at the dungeons.
Encountering one of them would be a pain to him, and he would be at a very big disadvantage if he had to fight them at his current stage.
"Hm… I think I need to get serious. This is my life now."
"Status Open!"
He exclaimed as he stopped by one side of the road.
Immediately the system window opened at his front.

"No magic, huh?" he said, after scanning through.
"If it shows that I have no magic right now, does that mean I can still gain some? If so, I just need to work hard and build my strength to unlock it."
"System closed!" Instantly the holographic window closed.

With determination in his eyes, he then made his way back to the inn. However, before he could take the first step, the same familiar robotic feminine voice that usually talked in his head, spoke again.
