Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Debate

Ethan's POV

This is the 7th week of first semester first year college, and here I am looking at the gclass if the task is already posted since we were informed that there will be task posted on the gclass. After refreshing for decades they finally posted it out, I'm starting doing the task which is to create a reflection paper by watching his video but the only God who can bless our home. I'm starting to get interested in this task because of the catchphrasing word that he said "God is very on time," which I believe yes since what's happening in my life right now is probably because God permitted to let me do it. So to summarize on what is the video all about during the forty-four minutes and eight seconds of his video, this is actually an engaging exploration of faith, blessings, and the influence of God in people's lives. Throughout the video, there is an emphasis on the importance of understanding God's promises and how they manifest as blessings in various aspects of life. The message is anchored in the transformative power of faith, reinforcing the idea that a strong spiritual foundation can lead to personal growth and stronger community ties. *Like it's really interesting how God works, right?* napatanong nalang ako bigla sa sarili ko habang natapos ko ang video, nagsimula naman na akong magsulat ng reflection ko and after an hour tapos na akong magsulat. I then attached my work and submitted it right away. I'll let you update once I get my score for that reflection.

Its Friday today and tomorrow will be our last class since we have Saturday online class, and later on at nine o'clock in the morning we will start our question and answer portion together with our super terror teacher that will really gisa us during this semester. Super high standard kasi since she's a Doctor of Philosophy and retired but is a part-timer here.

*Ba't ba kasi dto mo pa naisipan ibuhos yung pagiging bored mo ma'am!* sigaw ko nalang tsaka kumuha na ng pen and notebook to get ready for her class since it's already eight fifty-six in the morning. I just entered the google meet and there's already a teacher accepting me to let in, shems! Ang aga naman ni ma'am!

"Hi Ethan, where's your classmates?" bungad ni ma'am sa'kin.

"Good morning po ma'am, I'll let them know po ma'am that you're already on the meet po," sagot ko tsaka dali-daling nag-chat sa GC that terror prof is already on the meet.

"Oh why? They don't know that they have class with me today?" patutsada nitong sagot.

*Shet naman oh, ba't ba ang aga ko kasi!* pagsi-sigaw ko na sa loob ng isipan ko.

"No ma'am, they already know that they have class with you today, it's just our time will start by nine and they're not yet finished with their other class ma'am," sagot ko nalang dito kahit na parang mawawalan na ako nang hininga dahil sa lakas ng kabog ng dibdib ko.

"Oh I see, then let's wait for more five minutes after nine then we'll start by that time, okay?" sabi naman nito tsaka nag-mute ng mic niya.

*What's so good in the morning, ha?* pabulong kong sabi tsaka nagpalipas nalang ng oras at saktong nine o'five ay nagsalita na siya.

"Okay, good morning. What's our agenda for today?" tanong nito samin at napa-what expression naman ako. Ba't kami tinatanong mo ma'am?

"Ethan, can you hear me?" biglang na-mention name ko shet naman!

"Ah yes ma'am, we can hear you po," sagot ko nalang.

"Then why are you class not answering me? Ha? What's our agenda for today Ethan since you're the only one who's responding?" direktang tanong nito sa'kin.

"As I recall po ma'am about what you announced last meeting that we will be having question and answer portion. The mechanics is you will be calling two names randomly, one will answer and one will be giving question and vice versa po," sagot ko.

"Ohkay, then let's start with the first surname on my class record and up to last name," anunsyo nito at grabe na yung kaba ko.

"First to question is... oh by the way Ethan, what is the basis of our question and answer portion?"

"Pardon ma'am? I'm sorry," napasabi ng pardon si ackla! Ayan, hindi kasi nakikinig.

"I'm asking if what is the basis of this question and answer portion?" pag-uulit niya dito pero may diin na.

"I'm sorry ma'am but you're cutting in and out, but just to make sure that I've got your question correctly, you're asking if what is the basis of this question and answer portion, right?" tanong ko dito and she just responded yes.

"Well, according to you ma'am that we should get our question from the book source that you've provided to us last week and those pages are from 28 up to 35," sagot ko and natahimik naman yung buong class. Hindi nakapag-mute si ma'am kaya rinig na rinig namin ang pagtawag niya sa assistant niya, asking if what is the book title that she provided to us last week.

"Okay class let's continue, let's start with Kaori Bennett and Juno Yambao. Bennett will ask and Yambao will answer then vice versa," pagbabalik ni ma'am at nag start na sila.

"Hello everyone good morning, I am Kaori Bennett and this is my question to Juno. How does a teacher's personal philosophy influence their role and actions within society?" tanong kaagad ni Kaori.

"A teacher's personal p-philosophy shapes their approach to teaching, decision-making, and interactions with students, colleagues, and the community. It guides how they perceive their role as educators, how they respond to challenges, and how they influence others. For example, a teacher who believes in student-centered learning will focus on f-fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and independence," mahabang sagot nito habang nauutal para hindi halata na may binabasa.

"Excuse me class, can you turn on your camera so that I can see your face while participating," dagdag anunsyo ni ma'am dagdag kaba rin!

"Juno, you may now ask Kaori," dagdag sabi ni ma'am tsaka siya tumahimik.

"I'm sorry for interupting you Juno, by the way Kaori do you agree to the answer of Juno?"

"Yes ma'am," tanging sagot nito.

"Why?" jusme naman ma'am, lahat ay kabado na tapos may patanong pa na why.

"Ahmm.." hindi pa muna nakasagot si Kaori at halatang kabado ito base sa boses niya.

"Ahmm what?"

"Ahmm, I agree with the answer because it highlights the significant impact a teacher's personal philosophy has on their teaching style and interactions with students and colleagues. I think a teacher's beliefs and values shape their decisions and actions in the classroom, such as how they handle conflicts, approach lesson planning, and foster relationships. For example, a teacher who values inclusivity will create a learning environment where all students feel respected and valued. The answer also makes a good point about how a teacher's philosophy influences not just their teaching, but also their broader role in society, like promoting positive social values or adapting to cultural norms, which I find compelling and accurate," sagot nito at napahanga nalang ako sa galing ni Kaori!

"I see, very good. Now Juno it's your turn," grabe silang dalawa pa nga lang ang natanong at nasagot pero yung oras na nakuha is almost fifteen minutes na.

"Hi everyone good morning, I am Juno Yambao and this is my question to Kaori. In what ways can society shape a teacher's values, thoughts, and actions?" tanong nito at nagtingin pa ako sa messenger ko kung nag seen ba si Kaori sa sagot na binigay ni Juno pero hindi.

"Society shapes a teacher's values, thoughts, and actions by influencing the cultural norms, expectations, and educational policies they encounter. Teachers are exposed to various social, political, and economic events that may impact their beliefs and practices. Interactions with diverse groups of people, such as colleagues, students, and parents, can also shape a teacher's perspectives and approach to teaching," sagot niya at diretso pa ito.

"Wow fantastic, do you agree Juno?" tanong nito.

"No ma'am, I disagree with the answer because it suggests that society has a strong influence over a teacher's values, thoughts, and actions, but I believe a teacher has more autonomy in shaping their own beliefs and practices. While societal norms and expectations can impact a teacher, I think it ultimately depends on the individual teacher's willingness to be influenced. Some teachers may consciously choose to resist societal pressures and hold on to their personal values and teaching styles, regardless of external expectations. For instance, a teacher who strongly believes in progressive education methods may continue using those methods even if traditional approaches are more widely accepted in society,"

"Oh you disagree, do you have any say on this Kaori?" pasingit ni ma'am.

"Yes, I have more to say on this. While I understand that society does play a role in shaping our views, I think it's important to recognize that teachers, as individuals, can critically reflect on societal influences and make conscious choices about which values to adopt or reject. For example, even in a society that may have certain biases or expectations, a teacher might actively choose to promote diversity and inclusion in their classroom, going against prevailing norms. This shows that while society has an impact, it doesn't necessarily determine a teacher's values or actions. Teachers can have a strong sense of personal conviction and agency that guides their decisions, regardless of societal influences," diretsang sagot muli ni Kaori, shems super intense naman!

"Oh I see, now I get your point Kaori, I totally agree with you in that statement," sabi nalang ni Juno para matapos na.

"What's your next class after this?" tanong pa ni ma'am.

"Christian Education po ma'am," sagot ni Selma.

"Okay, then let's continue this next meeting. Ethan please remind me next meeting, okay? Also I have the list for those who already participated, so be at ease," sabi lang ni ma'am at nagpaalam na kami.

"Hays salamat hindi natawag," mahinang bulong ko pa sa sarili ko at pumunta muli sa gclass para kunin ang code for another meeting.
