Chapter 33: Into the Depths of Danger
As they neared the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, Amine and Khalid felt the air growing colder and heavier, as if nature itself was warning them of the danger ahead. The eerie silence of their surroundings only heightened their tension, with the only sounds being their hurried footsteps and strained breaths.
"Amine, are we sure this is the right path?" Khalid asked, eyeing the towering mountains with concern.
Amine tried to sound confident, despite his unease. "According to the map, yes. The path leads to a nearby peak, and we believe that's where we'll find the answers we're looking for."
As they walked, Khalid caught sight of a fleeting shadow slipping between the rocks. He froze, scanning the area cautiously. "Did you see that?"
Amine nodded quietly. "Yes, it looks like the watchers are still following us, keeping their distance. They're waiting, or maybe… testing our courage."
Khalid hesitated for a moment, then resumed walking. "We've faced so many dangers already. Whatever's up there, we'll face it together."
The two friends continued to climb, and with every step, the wind grew fiercer, almost as if trying to push them back. The ground beneath their feet became rougher, the rocks more slippery. They pressed forward, knowing they were inching closer to the secrets—and perils—that lay in wait.
