The night air was heavy, the kind that clung to your skin and wrapped you in an uncomfortable embrace. Alexander stood at the edge of the forest, eyes narrowed as he stared into the depths of the shadows ahead. His mind raced, plagued with worry. He could still feel the tremors of Elena's transformation, the raw, untamed power that had surged through her—something ancient, dangerous, and entirely uncontrollable.
He had failed her. He had left her alone when she needed him most, and in that moment of weakness, she had lashed out, her power consuming her, leaving nothing but chaos and blood in its wake.
The memory of her unconscious form, cradled in his arms, was etched into his mind. He had nearly lost her. And worse, he had no idea how to help her.
