Chapter 17 - chapter 17: The Beginning of Revenge

The next day, when I woke up, I found myself inside a house lying on a bed. I looked around and saw a woman grinding something. She then made juice from it and poured it into a bowl. She came towards me with the bowl. I tried to sit up, but she said, "No, no, lie down and rest. Your wounds haven't healed yet. Here, drink this decoction. It's made from special herbs; it will give you relief and help your wounds heal faster."

I thanked her and asked her name. She replied, "My name is Agnis, and I'm a witch." Hearing this, I looked at her in surprise and asked, "If you're a witch, why did you help me? Surely, you must want something from me. Are you planning to sacrifice me?" I asked cautiously. She laughed and said, "Oh, stop worrying. Not all witches are evil; some are good too."

I asked, "Not all? Does that mean there are more witches here?" Agnis replied, "Here, it's just me and my crow. He's out running an errand and should be back soon."

Curious, I asked, "But why did you save me?" Agnis replied, "Out of humanity and because I felt like it. Now, you rest; I have some work to do." As I was about to say something else, she started walking away. I called out, "Wait! I'm not done talking!" But she muttered something under her breath, and I fell back asleep on the bed.

The next day, when I woke up again, I felt grateful to Agnis. She had taken such good care of me, provided me with food, and her crow was so adorable, though I couldn't remember its name. Later, I shared my entire story with Agnis. She taught me fighting skills. I wanted to learn magic too, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't master it. However, she made clay dummies, and through them, I learned to fight.

Once I felt prepared, I left to seek vengeance. My target was the last demon, the Senapati. But he had grown much stronger and was now the commander of Maharaj's eastern army, known as the Black Scorpion unit.

Hearing all this, Jou felt a deep sympathy for Shadow. He placed his hand on her head, hugged her tightly, and said, "We won't spare that king or the Black Scorpion Senapati. This is my promise to you. Tomorrow morning, we'll leave from here, and from now on, the king and his kingdom's dark days will begin."

With renewed determination, Shadow and Jou set out together, heading towards the kingdom. The fire of vengeance burned bright in both of them. Only they knew the pain they had endured and the horrors they had faced.

Jou also began to feel sympathy for Sarah. Slowly, he realized that Sarah mattered to him now, and he was willing to do anything for her. Meanwhile, Sarah, too, started to develop a soft corner for Jou in her heart.

However, they both shared the same goal—revenge. They had to avenge everything that had happened to them.
