Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The History of Wisteria

"Doesn't Pauline seem too friendly with the newbies?" Shanon spoke up, laying her green eyes on Pauline who was chatting with the new students. I turned to them too. "I thought it was just me who thought so." I responded.

"Keep your best friend fastened to you. She seems to be prepared to be filched." Shanon said. I faced Shanon. Shanon was around 5'5 with a plump body and curly black hair.

I frowned.

"Come on, that won't happen!" I swung my hand in the air.

"I hope the same. However…." Her eyes were anchored to Pauline. Seeing Pauline at this moment is building thorns of doubt inside me. "They will know their places." My eyes didn't bulge away from Pauline talking to the new students.

I never supported bullying or any feud. Nevertheless…

"Irene and Benjamin will teach them their places. Like they do every time." I tore away my eyes from them. "Professor Benedict's warning might stiff them." Shanon pointed out.

"Let's wait till tomorrow." I suggested.

Before Shanon could utter another word, Professor Benedict's rough growl rang in our ears. "I do not remember permitting you fools to start having your stupid conversations," It immediately gagged the entire classroom.

Professor would soon be my father-in-law. I have encountered him legion times and yet his mismatched demeanour here has not failed to stun me.

Professor Benedict walked over to the shelf and grabbed a voluminous book. He slammed it onto the desk and cracked the book open. "I expect utter silence from you morons." He announced.

Soon, the book flipped pages on its own briskly as light blue mist and sparkles started to form around it. So, it was a magical book.

The classroom dulled itself and the sole source of light was the book.

We've come across enchanted books hitherto as well. It was a common feature. Nonetheless, the book grabbed everyone's attention.

A gentle female voice chimed through the room as figures of mist escaped the book. "The land of Elowyn that hasn't always been what it is now. It had been a backdrop of blitz and war." The voice soared as the figures that had escaped the book were providing us a visual depiction of what was being told.

"King Xandros, a former ruler of Brindlemark…." Just when Brindlemark was mentioned, several heads abruptly rotated to me briefly.

Yeah, that same old historical lesson of what a great arbiter my ancestor was.

It was something I was taught even before I could walk. Hence, it made me extremely tedious.

"Was getting more and more weary regarding the situation. Hence, negotiating with the rulers of the only four other kingdoms, King Kaelith, Queen Althaea, Queen Fionna and King Valtor of the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Kingdoms respectively with the succour of the greatest Sage of Elowyn, Sage Orion, King Xandros was successful in establishing the school."

Yes, earlier Elowyn wasn't constituted by the fourteen major and umpteen minor kingdoms but of the Big Five kingdoms.

"The ultimate aim of the establishment of Wisteria Royal Academy was to bring together the children from all the kingdoms and educate them along with teaching them the credo of unity, to reduce the animosity and establish the idea of one continent within the hearts of the children."

Though it has evidently failed to do so.

"Initially, though the school provided knowledge only to the royalty, it has been spreading its admission facilities to the other social classes as well. Wisteria Royal Academy has been a prestigious school and the students are expected nothing but to hold onto its lustre and establish friendships."

Slowly the figures flew into the book again after flashing the photos of some mentionable alumni.

Professor Benedict slammed the book close and leaned forward on the desk, flaming eyes running through the students.

"If you imbeciles possess even the slightest bit of brain, I suppose you have figured out that I would be your homeroom teacher. I would also be teaching you Royal Leadership and Governance. Now, I shall take my leave for today as your first day is set loose for you people to explore around. However, I expect orthodox behaviour from you people tomorrow onwards."

His words resulted in students swallowing their saliva.

"In addition to that, I appoint Princess Pauline and Prince Benjamin as the Class Senators. The two of you will be responsible for any misconduct in the classroom. The Vice Senators would be Prince Kristian and Princess Irene. The class is dismissed for the day."

He knows.

"Remember to submit the list of the recreational activities you dunces want to take up." With that Professor Benedict departed out of the classroom.

The class immediately dissolved into urgent murmurs and some climbed out of their seats. I leapt to my feet, tailed by Princess Shanon, leaving behind Pauline to continue her pivotal meeting with the newbies.

I went over to Prince Benjamin's desk. Shanon slammed her palms on the desk causing Benjamin, who had buried himself in his arms on the desk, lifted his head up.

"Explain." Shanon demanded.

Benjamin eyed us for a mere second before lifting himself up. "I am just as clueless as you are. This morning, he accompanied me in the journey. I assumed he would just drop me off. But instead, while climbing out of the carriage, he informed me that his joining. He disappeared before I could question him."

"It peculiarly sounds unconvincing." I pointed out.

"I know. However, it is the truth." Benjamin sighed out.

I turned to Shanon with a sceptic face. Something was up. Benjamin was an infamous liar. But even if he is lying or not, something certainly wasn't right. Shanon then gestured to Irene with her eyes. I nodded as we walked over to Princess Irene's desk. She was busy chatting with Princess Pristine.

"Do something about Patricia." I spoke.

Irene scoffed as she jumped to her feet, tearing her eyes away from Pristine and glaring at me. "Who do you think you are to order me around?" My expression softened like a shot. A smile formed on my face. "A request. Not an order."

"Unless what Professor Benedict warned about has scared you." Shanon shrugged. Irene rolled her eyes. She's being convinced. "I wouldn't relinquish a tradition in the fear of a mere warning."

That's it. She has been convinced.

My grin widened. "So, which recreational activities are you taking on?" I shifted the topic. "Mind your own affairs." Princess Irene scowled at me

Whatever is helping me convince her.
