The next day dawned bright and clear, and Sabrina woke up feeling all the muscles in her body sour; at first, she was having a hard time figuring out where she was, but when she tried to get up, the pain on her back brought her memories into sharp focus.
All the memories of the previous day came crashing down on her, especially of the night before, so she turned her head, hoping to find Jamal on the other side of the bed, but he was not there.
The disappointment she felt was so surreal that she scolded herself for expecting him to be beside her.
"Yay!! You are up," Maryam's voice cut into her thoughts and Sabrina turned her head to face the door just as Maryam stepped into the room.
"Good morning Maryam," Sabrina greeted her young heroine with a smile, she remembered she had been there with her all through the previous day
"More like afternoon," Maryam replied mischievously and drew the blinds in the room, flooding the room with sunlight.
