Chapter 20 - The Queen's speech

The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden hue over the ruins of Kalinsha. The air was thick with the scent of smoke and despair, but amidst the devastation, a flicker of hope began to emerge. The streets were littered with reminders of the battle, and the cries of the grieving echoed through the hollowed buildings.

As the dust settled, a helicopter descended from the sky, its blades whirring loudly, cutting through the silence. The people of Kalinsha looked up, their expressions a mix of curiosity and trepidation. They had heard whispers of the Holy Queen's arrival, but seeing her in person was a different matter entirely.

Calca Bessarez stepped out of the helicopter, her regal presence commanding attention. Dressed in a flowing white gown that contrasted sharply with the grim surroundings, she exuded an aura of strength and compassion. Her long hair flowed behind her like a golden banner, and her eyes, though filled with sorrow, sparkled with determination.

As she approached the gathered crowd, the whispers faded into silence. The survivors, battered and bruised, looked to their queen for guidance, their hearts heavy with grief and uncertainty. Calca raised her hand, signaling for silence, and the crowd fell still, their eyes fixed on her.

"My beloved people," she began, her voice steady yet filled with emotion. "I stand before you today not just as your queen, but as a fellow citizen of the Holy Kingdom. I have seen the horrors that have befallen our land, the pain that has been inflicted upon our families, and the loss that weighs heavily on our hearts."

Tears glistened in the eyes of many as they listened to her words. Calca continued, her voice rising with conviction. "We have suffered greatly at the hands of the demi-humans. They have taken our loved ones, our homes, and our peace. But we will not be broken! We will rise from the ashes of this tragedy, stronger and more united than ever before!"

A murmur of agreement rippled through the crowd, a spark of hope igniting in their hearts. Calca pressed on, her passion infectious. "We must rebuild our army! We must gather our strength and prepare to reclaim our lands from the invaders who seek to destroy us. The men who once stood as our protectors have fallen, but we will not let their sacrifices be in vain. We will fight for our future, for our children, and for the memory of those we have lost!"

Remedios stood among the crowd, her heart swelling with pride and determination. She had witnessed the devastation firsthand, but Calca's words resonated deep within her soul.

Calca continued, her voice unwavering. "I call upon all of you—men, women, and Young —to join us in this fight. We will train, we will strategize, and we will stand together against the demi-humans. We will not allow fear to dictate our actions any longer!"

The crowd erupted into applause, their spirits lifted by the queen's rallying cry.

" We will fight, my queen!"

The crowd roared, their voices echoing through the ruins of Kalinsha. Edward watched from the sidelines, a sense of pride swelling within him. He had come to this world for resources and people, and now he found himself part of something greater—a united front against a common enemy.

As the cheers subsided, Calca looked out over her people, her heart filled with hope. "Together, we will rebuild. Together, we will reclaim our kingdom. Together, we will show the world that the Holy Kingdom will not be defeated!"

With those words, the queen inspired a new resolve in the hearts of her people. They would not be defined by their losses; they would rise, stronger and more united than ever before.

As the echoes of the crowd's cheers faded, Calca Bessarez stood at the forefront, her heart racing with a mix of pride and trepidation. The energy of the people surged around her, a palpable force that filled the air with hope. Yet, beneath that hope lay the heavy burden of responsibility. She had witnessed the devastation that the demi-humans had wrought upon her kingdom, and the weight of her people's suffering pressed down on her shoulders like a mountain.

Calca took a deep breath, her gaze sweeping over the faces of the survivors. She saw the determination in their eyes, the flicker of hope ignited by her words, but she also saw the pain etched into their features—the loss, the grief, the fear of what was to come. It was a reminder that her role as queen was not just to inspire but to lead them through the darkest of times.

As she stepped down from the makeshift podium, her heart ached for the families torn apart by the recent conflict. She approached Remedios, who stood resolute, her sword gleaming in the fading sunlight. The paladin's fierce spirit was infectious, and Calca felt a surge of gratitude for her unwavering commitment.

"Remedios," Calca said, her voice softening, "Thank you for your strength. Your resolve gives me hope."

Remedios turned to her, her expression fierce yet compassionate. "We will not let our people down, my queen. We will fight for them, for every life lost, and for every family shattered."

Calca nodded, her heart swelling with pride. "But we must also remember that our fight is not just against the demi-humans. It is a fight for our humanity, for our values, and for the future we wish to build. We must not let vengeance consume us."

Remedios's brow furrowed, and she looked away for a moment, contemplating the queen's words. "I understand, but the pain is still fresh. The desire for revenge is strong, and it fuels our determination."

Calca placed a hand on Remedios's shoulder, her grip firm yet reassuring. "I know. I feel it too. But we must channel that pain into something greater. We must protect our people, not just from the demi-humans, but from the darkness that can take root in our hearts if we allow it."

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the ruins of Kalinsha, Calca felt a renewed sense. She would lead her people not just in battle, but in healing. They would reclaim their kingdom, not just through vengeance, but through unity, compassion, and strength.
