Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: Elven Resurgence

"Your Majesty, this…" Reynard looked in surprise as a portal suddenly opened in the barrier before them, revealing a dazzling expanse of starlight, as if they were standing beneath a night sky filled with stars.

"Exactly, let's go in and see the Star Elves!" Rynar sheathed his sword with a casual tone.

"Yes." Reynard also returned his Dragon Slayer Sword to its sheath.

"Whoosh!"

"Your Majesty, be careful!"

"Clang!" Reynard cleaved an incoming arrow with his sword.

Unexpectedly, as soon as they stepped onto the land of Singrey, they were greeted with a "warm welcome" from the Star Elves.

"Who are you? How did you enter here?" the Star Elf before them asked coldly, aiming their longbow at the two.

Rynar carefully observed the Star Elf before him and noticed their distinct features.

They were as extraordinarily beautiful as expected, with pale skin and, most notably, long sky-blue hair. The elf appeared to be a ranger.

"Greetings, esteemed elf. I am Rynar, King of the Zaltarion Empire from the shores of Long Lake, here to visit your king on urgent business," Rynar said, placing his hand on his chest in a gesture of respect.

"A human king? How do you know the secret words to enter here?" The Star Elf pulled back the bowstring further.

"Tradition! My ancestors once received assistance from the Star Elves, and I come now to honor our friendship." Rynar activated the holy knight's battle aura unique to him.

"…" The elf scrutinized Rynar's battle aura for a moment before finally lowering the bow, pulling out a magical flare and launching it.

Instantly, a golden star shot up a hundred meters high before flashing brightly.

"Wait here; someone will come to receive you soon!"

"What's going on?" A distinctive Star Elf led a group of ranger elves over.

Why was he distinctive? Unlike the other elves wearing light half-armors, he was clad in heavy plate armor.

"Dragon Knight!" Reynard whispered nervously, his hand quietly resting on the hilt of his sword. If the situation turned dire, he would fight to protect his king.

As a knight ruling the earth, Rynar was of course familiar with the dragon knights who dominated the skies; the overwhelming dragon power surged around the knight, almost tattooed on his face.

"Why was the secret door opened? Huh? Humans?" After casually closing the secret door, the dragon knight finally noticed the humans before him.

"…" Rynar twitched his mouth. Was he really so insignificant?

"Damn!" Reynard's pupils shrank. The door behind them closed, leaving them with no retreat. Unconsciously, he drew his sword.

"Huh? Interesting! A holy knight is drawing his sword before me!" The dragon knight said, intrigued.

"Hehe, fearless, holy light shining through the heavens! A mortal body standing shoulder to shoulder with the divine!

The holy knight fears nothing!" Reynard whispered, brandishing his sword in front of him.

"Interesting; how long has it been since a human with such pure holy knight aura has appeared?" The dragon knight pondered, looking down thoughtfully.

"Is this the star dragon knight Elandor?" Rynar thought to himself.

In the game, the star dragons and their knights had long since aged, but this one should be the Elandor from thousands of years ago.

"Why have you come?" Elandor scrutinized the two. Those who could become holy knights were inherently just, though if they had fallen, that would be another matter.

"Darkness has shrouded the North; dwarves, elves, and humans are in grave danger!" Rynar considered and then said solemnly.

"Who are you?" Elandor couldn't help but be curious about Rynar's identity.

From what he had seen earlier, Reynard stood in front of Rynar, indicating that Rynar was the one in charge.

"I am King Rynar of Zaltarion!" Rynar declared proudly.

"Zaltarion? Does this kingdom exist?" Elandor thought hard but couldn't recall.

Although Singrey was isolated, they would occasionally send a few people out to gather various items to enrich their lives, so they were not completely cut off from news.

"It perished long ago," Rynar replied succinctly.

"Oh." Elandor nodded.

"Follow me! I'll take you to meet the king," Elandor decided to lead them to meet their elven king.

"Let me introduce myself; I am Elandor, the star dragon knight," Elandor said as he led the way.

"Hmm, Knight Elandor, nice to meet you." Rynar and Reynard both greeted.

"Come!"

After passing through a warm grove of tree houses, Elandor led them to a magnificent elven structure.

In the vast elven hall, a slender figure reclined on a throne inlaid with various gemstones, swaying a wine cup in hand.

"What's going on? Elandor? Why did you bring back two humans?" The solitary king spoke softly.

"My King, they have come seeking aid," Elandor replied casually.

"Aid?" Elenthor set down the wine cup and sat up.

"Yes, Your Majesty, the elven king. Darkness has already enveloped the North.

We have mobilized all our forces but are still no match for it, so I have come to seek the Star Elves' assistance in accordance with the legacy of my ancestors." Rynar spoke humbly.

"Someone still remembers us?" Elenthor rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

"Where do you come from?" Elenthor asked curiously, wanting to know who these humans were that remembered the reclusive Star Elves.

"I am Rynar, the current king of Zaltarion, and this is my knight commander, Reynard." Rynar stood tall; considering Zaltarion's heritage, he could easily hold his own against these Star Elves.

"Greetings, King Rynar. I apologize; please take a seat." Elenthor stood and graciously bowed, then directed the two to seats beside him.

"Clap! Clap!"

He lightly clapped his hands, and instantly, several beautiful elven maidens approached with fruits and drinks.

"Please, try the specialty fruits of our Star Elves," Elenthor smiled.

"You may call me Elenthor. I am the current king of the Star Elves," Elenthor said seriously.

"Sauron has returned, and his forces now threaten the entire North! I need your help! The Star Elves are the last hope of the North." Rynar spoke eagerly.

"Sorry, but you may not understand the past of the Star Elves…

We have been reclusive for over three thousand years; my people have grown accustomed to a peaceful life, and we may not be able to participate in this war."

Elenthor displayed an apologetic expression.

"Have you really forgotten your hatred for Sauron, merely because of the severe losses you suffered back then?" Rynar was well aware of the Star Elves' history.

In the War of the Last Alliance, besides the coalition led by Gil-galad, three other armies that had been operating independently also participated in the battle: one led by Thranduil's father from the Woodland Realm, one from the Golden Wood, and another comprising the Vanyar elves who resided in Valinor at that time.

Despite their different routes to the battlefield, they all met the same tragic fate—heavy losses.

The nearly annihilated Vanyar elves retreated to what is now the Dimholt Forest, moving northward. Fortunately, one of them formed a bond with a wandering star dragon.

This was Elandor, who, as a dragon knight, followed Elenthor's father, Inas, northward. Along the way, no orc army dared to provoke this elven host of sorrow…

In the end, when they reached Valinor, the severely wounded elven king Inas ultimately passed away, and Elenthor succeeded the kingdom.

Disappointed in the Vanyar elves, Elenthor changed his faith, no longer worshiping the goddess of nature.

Instead, they revered the goddess of the stars, henceforth calling themselves the Lords of the Stars.

Their icy blue hair overshadowed the golden locks of their previous kin, becoming elves bathed in starlight amid the night.

They dwelt in darkness yet yearned for the light!

Through the immense dragon power of the star dragon, they created the Star Barrier, opening a secret realm.

From then on, they lived in seclusion, and this secret realm was named—Singrey. Thus, a new elven tribe devoted to the stars was born in the world.

"Haha, we once bled, sacrificed, and fought… In the end, it was all for betrayal!"

Elenthor still harbored resentment over the coalition's disregard for the elven tribes that had fiercely attacked the Black Gate and was angered by the Woodland elves' failure to extend their hand to them.

(The three elven factions initially employed a strategy of attrition, launching one after another against the already outnumbered forces.)

"King Elenthor, I hope you understand what it means when enemies attack; if the Lonely Mountain and Long Lake fall, the Woodland Realm will cease to exist, and Singrey will eventually be found by Sauron!" Rynar said solemnly.

"Useless. We can't help you; we no longer have the capability to fight another war," Elenthor waved his hand and sighed.
