Konoha was attacked, not because of negligence in defense, but because the outer perimeter guards were breached. Leading Kumogakure's attack force this time was the Second Raikage. In Kumogakure, there is an unwritten rule that whoever becomes Raikage assumes the title "Ai." The significance of this title remains unknown.
The Second Raikage didn't come alone. He brought a powerful war weapon—the Eight-Tails. When the first Konoha ninja on the battlefield spotted the threat and launched a signal flare, the entire temporary camp erupted into chaos. Suddenly, an earth-shaking roar echoed across the field. A giant, bull-headed, eight-legged octopus monster—the Eight-Tails—began its rampage.
Yuya was jolted awake from his sleep. He quickly put on his clothes and dashed out of his tent, where he found Senju Tobirama standing, gazing into the distance.
"They're here?" Tobirama said softly, not turning around. He didn't scold Yuya for sleeping so soundly on the front lines, though he now felt a deep sense of regret. If anything were to happen to Yuya…
Senju Tobirama took a deep breath and looked at Sarutobi Hiruzen and Shimura Danzo. "Hiruzen, Danzo, you two take Kagami, Tifeng, and the others and protect Yuya. Do whatever it takes, even if it costs your lives. He must be kept safe," Tobirama ordered. Then, he turned to Yuya and said gravely, "You are Konoha's future." With that, Tobirama turned and headed straight toward the raging Eight-Tails.
At this point, Tobirama was unaware that the Second Raikage himself was leading the assault. Assuming that the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki was in command, he prepared to face the beast.
Meanwhile, at the camp, Akimichi Tifeng and the others stood around Yuya. Hiruzen, Danzo, Mito, and Koharu all kept watch as Yuya got ready.
Yuya gave a nervous smile. "A night attack? Just our luck," he joked.
Uchiha Kagami, standing nearby, looked at Yuya seriously and declared, "I won't let anything happen to you." Yuya blinked, puzzled by Kagami's intense expression. Was there something more to it? But he dismissed the thought, remembering that Kagami was already married.
Before Yuya could dwell on it, a figure appeared on the thick branches of a nearby tree. The man was muscular, with sun-bronzed skin, and not wearing a Kumogakure forehead protector. He was the Second Raikage, the strongest shinobi of his village.
"Is this all Konoha has left?" the Raikage mocked. His body crackled with lightning as he activated his Lightning Release Chakra Mode, a technique honed over generations in Kumogakure.
"Retreat!" Hiruzen commanded. Yuya didn't need to be told twice; he turned and ran, with Uchiha Kagami close behind. Hiruzen stayed back to defend, preparing to engage the Raikage.
The Raikage sneered. "Cowards," he muttered, lunging forward. Lightning sparked around him as he launched a powerful punch, but Hiruzen used a substitution jutsu, leaving a log in his place. However, before Hiruzen could react further, a bolt of lightning struck him, and he collapsed, unconscious.
Ignoring Hiruzen, the Raikage sped forward, targeting Yuya. His mission was clear: eliminate the boy who had brought about so much change in Konoha. If Yuya survived, Konoha would only grow stronger.
The Raikage's speed was overwhelming, and he quickly closed the gap between himself and Yuya's group. Shimura Danzo attempted a Wind Release jutsu, but the Raikage walked through it effortlessly. "Too weak," he scoffed, moving toward Yuya.
Uchiha Kagami stepped forward, his Sharingan blazing. Blood vessels stood out around his eyes, and he cast a powerful genjutsu, transforming the landscape into a crimson sea. The Raikage was unimpressed. "Interesting, but not enough," he said calmly. His lightning chakra shattered the illusion, and Kagami collapsed, blood streaming from his eyes.
Yuya clenched his teeth. He had always acted in Tobirama's name, but his identity was no longer a secret. He cursed the merchants in Konoha who doubled as spies for enemy nations, driven purely by profit. Yuya vowed that when he returned, he would deal with those traitorous merchants—though he knew Konoha's economy still needed them to survive.
The Raikage advanced, ignoring the wounded Kagami. Danzo and the others were frozen, terrified by the overwhelming power of their opponent. With no other options, Yuya pulled out a scroll from his robes. With a loud crash, a massive golden boulder fell from the sky, aiming directly for the Second Raikage.
