Chapter 70 - Chapter 67 Two Billion

Yuya would not be idle enough to wander around the village with the Uzumaki messenger. Nor would he suddenly get angry and frighten the other party—it was all just an act.

After finishing his performance, Yuya turned and left, leaving the Uzumaki envoy confused. He wasn't worried about pushing them into despair. After all, they weren't alone in Konoha Village.

Uzumaki Mito, although somewhat senile, still carried considerable influence. This was partly because Senju Tobirama, unlike in other timelines, had not taken his elite team to Kumogakure and fallen victim to a conspiracy. He remained in office, focused on the ongoing civil strife in Kumogakure.

As Senju Hashirama's apprentice, Yuya enjoyed a connection few were aware of—especially the Uzumaki envoys. They also didn't know about the Nine-Tails (Kurama) sealed within Mito, though Kurama's size certainly made the idea of him being "big-mouthed" a humorous understatement.

When Yuya dismissed the Uzumaki envoy, as expected, they immediately rushed to Uzumaki Mito, falling to their knees and crying in desperation.

Mito, however, remained unmoved, her cold demeanor unyielding. She had long known the true nature of these envoys. If they genuinely cared for their fellow clansmen, they would not have ignored her for so many years, only to approach her now whenever they needed something.

Sometimes, Mito even entertained the thought of dying and reuniting with Hashirama in the afterlife. But her duties as the Nine-Tails' jinchūriki—and Yuya's presence—kept her grounded.

After a long afternoon of kowtowing and tearful pleading, Mito finally relented, though she made them wait a few more days, as Yuya had predicted. Yet her resolve crumbled quickly—she softened within a day, much to no one's surprise.

The next day, Senju Tobirama met with the Uzumaki envoy, crushing their last hopes. They had clung to the faint possibility that Yuya's actions did not represent Konoha's stance, but Tobirama's cold, stern demeanor made it clear that wasn't the case.

In fact, Tobirama's barely veiled anger left the envoys trembling. His resentment toward the Uzumaki clan was no secret, rooted in their failure to support Hashirama during his passing. The Uzumaki clan hadn't even attended his funeral, despite Hashirama's bond with Uzumaki Mito and Konoha's assistance to the Whirlpool Country.

For an hour, Tobirama unleashed a tirade on the envoys, showcasing a vocabulary Yuya hadn't known he possessed. Finally, Tobirama concluded by declaring Konoha's forces were preoccupied guarding against threats from the Land of Lightning.

"We can spare half of Konoha's army to protect the Whirlpool Country," he said, his tone biting. "How about that?"

The envoys hesitated. Half of Konoha's army? They understood the implication—this wasn't assistance but occupation.

Eventually, they stammered out a request for fewer troops—one or two thousand at most. Tobirama's expression darkened.

Afterward, Tobirama turned to Yuya and said, "He's my full-time secretary and representative. Any further discussions go through him." With that, Tobirama left abruptly.

The envoys were stunned. Not wanting Konoha to send troops, yet needing their help, they faced an impossible choice.

Yuya, unfazed, offered a cheerful solution: "No troops, then! Instead, we'll provide supplies. Here's a list—with a 10% discount, of course."

Reviewing the list, the envoys were shocked. It included everything from detonating tags to massive transport ships, priced astronomically. The mention of ships left them particularly flustered.

"What are we supposed to do with these?" one envoy asked.

Yuya grinned. "Oh, they're labeled as transport ships. What you use them for is none of my business."

The envoys balked at the idea but knew their nation couldn't afford such luxuries. They reluctantly settled on small quantities of essentials like ninja tools, food, and detonating tags.

That evening, Yuya returned to Mito's residence, where Tobirama awaited him.

Tobirama's first question was predictable: "How much do they owe?"

Yuya smirked. "Two billion ryō."

Tobirama's eyes widened in disbelief. "What?! Two billion?! Do you actually think they'll pay that back?"
