Chapter 19 - Time to lock in

(Small info dump upcoming. When reading it, please remember the traits he gained before rebirth.)

(Todo POV)

A few days had already passed by.

Apparently, the cursed spirit we were supposed to vanquish, was in the same city the accident happened, and due to my White Flash, it got obliterated, which technically meant that our mission was accomplished.

Currently, my team was ignoring any mission that they gave. I was adamant about it.....and they couldn't really do anything about it.

Neither the higher ups, nor my own teammates deterred me from training my team. If they gave missions, I simply chose to decline them.

They were quite annoying, even resorting to guilt trip me by saying, 'People are dying day by day, and here you are, not doing anything about it despite your strength....How would their families react...'.

That statement was the dumbest shit I've heard till now. There are at max 12 thousand deaths due to cursed spirits in Japan, and us getting stronger will actually help the scenario in the long run.

Even when annoyed, I understood why they were being so forceful. They were severely underhanded in handling the cursed spirits, which were popping up left and right, and due to the regular death of other sorcerers, the problem seemed to be getting worse.

It was partially the fault of the higher ups as well. They never expended resources to get proper information regarding the missions. That's why, in most cases, the info they had would either be severely outdated, or completely wrong.

Imagine you're supposed to fight a group of cursed spirits, with the highest being a grade 2 curse. But suddenly, a few grade 1 curses appear to kill you.....That just represents how bad misinformation makes the situation.

Anyway, let's focus on myself and my team now.

Why did I stop them from going and getting valuable combat experience from fighting cursed spirits?

Well, it's because they were too weak. They were too limited in what they could do as well.

I wanted to expand their abilities and capabilities to a high enough degree so that they'd be able to fight without much trouble.

Besides, the regular spars we conducted in between training gave them enough combat experience to not freeze up and do what needs to be done. They had reverted back to their previous personalities, but an obvious change could be seen in their mentality.

My attacks, even though brutal, readied them for what's about to come, and after applying a wide range of calculations, in a week, they should be able to handle semi grade 2 curses alone, by themselves.

Semi Grade 1 curses and above were a mystery and quite unpredictable since they almost always develop some sort of cursed technique. So, I'm not really going to push the two that far yet.

After all, too much of anything brings disaster.

Why did they develop this fast?....Well, they were teens, had good enough potential and finally.....they had the drive for it.....If that wasn't enough, as I said, I pushed them to the edge, brutally.

After almost dying once, who'd wanna experience anything similar to that? Obviously Cursed spirits are stronger than ramming buses/trucks....that's what they thought, and that's why they pushed themselves.

Their physical strength might not be that good, but the new creative applications of their techniques filled that hole. I just had to give them a spark of an idea, and they became quite creative with their techniques....

I guess teens were always the creative type....they just had to be open with their thinking process.....and get rid of the distractions.

As for me? I had developed a few passive things that made me a new level of monster....

The first thing I did was delve into the Passive application of CE enhancement. Most sorcerers weren't capable of this, since they would need to appoint certain capability of their brain to do any passive tasks they may require.

And well....they'd also need a humongous amount of cursed energy or abnormal CE generation rate, which I had both of.

For now, with the experience I've gained throughout the years with my CE enhancement, I was able to assign a passive side to it without much strain on myself. It had diminished capabilities compared to when I use it actively, but it's enough for now.

As for how much power I hold with my passive enhancement? It's to the level of completely demolishing few buildings (1 to 3) at the nearly the same time. At least that's the force I could exert at max with the passive application of the technique. If I were to rate it in terms of curses, I'd rate it to be about the level of a strength focused semi grade 1 curse.

This level of Buff would allow me to tank pretty much ever mortal weapon in this world, except some high level bombs, or snipers. I may have a high resistance to damage, but it doesn't mean that I couldn't be hurt by special means. Piercing damage is quite the troublesome thing. Especially if it were to occur in weak spots such as my eyes or something.

As for active enhancement?....I should be in the top 5 in this verse itself.

Why was it so?

Well, we'll have to delve into another topic for this. Particularly, Cursed Energy Output, along with efficiency.

Normal sorcerers had limited amount of output, even if their cursed energy was large. As for me? I had no such limits.

I didn't notice this at first, but my time with Yuki showed how different I was. The reason I wasn't already the strongest, physically, was that I wasn't sure about it.

As for the efficiency, I had brought CE enhancement to a pretty high degree, allowing me to not waste much of the CE I apply, when I use it....But it wasn't perfect.

Anyway, at my level of CE enhancement, while using it at it's max output, I had enough force to destroy a small forest in it's entirety. In buildings, I'd say about 15 to 17 at the same time.

Why didn't this happen whenever I fought?....It's due to the basic laws of physics.

Even if I were to have a huge amount of force behind my attack, if the attack goes through a small area, most of the force would act on the point of contact and wouldn't cause massive damage to the surroundings. Of course it would be affected, but to a lower level.

As for the second, and main the main thing I developed? It was quite Bullshit if I were to think about it....

I mean, with passive CE enhancement itself, my survival capabilities were through the roof, but with this.....With this, I should become nearly unkillable.

This technique worked on the same principle with which my 'air' swapping worked.

Normally, I'd bring out Cursed energy from my body, condense it in a particular area, making it viable enough to make the 'link' with something I'd want, and then with a proper trigger, I would be able to swap with air.

This was something entirely unique to my cursed technique, since the sheer speed at which it occurs in inconceivable. Normal sorcerers don't have such control over their CE outside their body, but my technique allows me to do it to the max, and I abuse it, as always.

The rate at which it occurs, makes it almost instantaneous. To compare, if I were to do this in a 50 meters radius around me, it would be done at nearly the same time as an electron of the hydrogen atom, at it's ground state, completing one entire revolution around it's orbit.

This occurs quicker than when I try to form a 'link'. I currently don't know the reason for this, but it's most likely due to the difference in the complexity of the tasks.

Anyway, coming back to the technique, it works in a small field around my body. It's in the shape of my own self, since making a spherical one leads to unnecessary wastage of my CE.

The main reason it's not spherical is due to the strain it causes, but oh well.

Now, I burned this technique into my brain, giving it various situations and what to do in them. It was like a set of codes....For a better definition, a program.

Basically, it applied my abnormally great senses in a small field, 20 centimeters away from my body, to its max, to sense anything that comes towards me. No matter what it is, my CE will automatically coat itself on the object (Non living and living) and 'link' it to me. Further on, it will grant a direct command to my brain to use any required 'trigger' my body may generate to activate the cursed technique, which will allow me to swap with the object, effectively evading it.

If, by chance, no viable trigger is sensed, it will let the thing come closer to my body and at the moment of impact, which should create the required trigger, it will activate the technique.

The only 'objects' that won't activate this sequence would be the ones that my conscious brain gives the 'ok' for.

And Yes. this technique was 'inspired' from Gojo's Infinity.

I normally hate people who copy techniques, but....If it ups my chances of survival, I'll do it anyway.

For the active version of this technique....it was just my normal Fighting style, just enhanced furthermore. This technique is more useful than most of the ones I've created by myself, so it deserves a special name....

A name.....I wonder....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do comment what name should this OP technique should have. I am kind of on a block for the name, since whatever I think of is too generic....

I want comments.....Like, literally. Give me comments, people. They are the only thing giving me motivation to write this. After all, thinking of it in the head is quite exciting, but typing it down becomes quite the hassle.....meh.

Any questions you may have, and plot holes you may see, please comment them, cuz I will definitely answer them.....I can't give a 100% guarantee, cuz if the app didn't show them, I'd have no idea.

Question of the day:

"Is depression common? If yes, comment how many people from the jjk world would have it. You may compare it with the real world as well."
