Chapter 46 - Intruder (2)

Crouched in hiding, Sorken's mind raced with thoughts of vengeance against those who had led his friends to their unjust deaths. But before he could withdraw safely.

Alas, disaster struck - his foot dislodged a chunk of stone that clattered down into the chamber.

Sorken's blood turned to ice as all four apprentices whirled toward the noise, murderous rage flashing across their faces at the interruption.

"I guess some cockroach survived and was hiding to attack us!" Valakh roared. "Seize him!"

With lightning speed, Tamara's hand sliced the air. An invisible force slammed into Sorken, catapulting him out from the crevice. He crashed to the chamber floor, crippled with pain. Within moments, the apprentices surrounded him.

"Well, well...a tenacious slave rat," Ted hissed, wrenching Sorken up by his hair. Sorken glared back defiantly through the blood and grime coating his face.

A kick soon followed into his guts. Blood gushed out of his mouth as he gasped for breath. Sorken's eye still filled with immense rage and hatred looked at Valakh.

"How fortuitous. We were just remarking on how unfortunately quick your deaths had been," said Valakh. His mouth curled with cruel delight as he produced an ornate dagger. "Let's take our time to fix that, shall we?"

Azim and Tamara snickered as they forced Sorken's arms wide. Sorken struggled futilely, hatred roiling inside him as Valakh trailed the dagger almost gently down his cheek.

"Poor, treacherous Sorken. However, shall we repay you..."

"Tamara… how could you… Tamara.." at that moment, nothing else came out of his mouth, but another mouthful of blood.

The apprentices erupted in malicious laughter. Valakh came forward with a flame roaring in his hands. "Let's see, Tamara before you bid goodbye to your old lover, let me have some fun." Valakh bought the flame and thrusted it in his mouth.

Sorken screamed as white hot agony exploded through his body. The torturous din echoed endlessly through the shadowed chamber…

'Aaaahahahahah aaaaahahaga aahahahaahag'

The entire chamber reverberated with his painful cries.

Valakh looked at Sorken who was wincing in pain with a satisfied look.

"Should we kill him, why bother throwing him in the abyss?" Ted asked

"It's clean, why do so much when the abyss is ready to clean our mess" Valakh replied. "Tamara what do you suggest, it's your decision in the end"

"Let him come back to his senses, I want to hear him plead and scream before I kill him" Tamara looked at Valakh and then Sorken who was lying unconscious in the hall.

Tamara had an indescribable expression on her face at the moment. It was hard for her to decide. She had already achieved her purpose, sorken would not leave this place anyways. It was into her, if she wanted to kill him off with her own hands or leave him for the beasts.

Still contemplating, a gush of scream echoes in the chamber.

"It's the swarm and beasts!" Ted screamed, expecting a quick reaction on what to do from his teammates.

"All the treasure is here, right? Those beasts came before we anticipated. How about leaving him to beasts? They will come soon anyway. We don't have to risk our lives for a wretch like him." Valakh looked at Tamara and hoped she understood what was at stake here.

"I… okay, you are right. He cannot even speak now. You literally blasted his brain"

Tamara chuckled looking at Sorken.

Now the beasts were here, it was foolish to wait lest they be injured for such errands.

"So it's decided, everyone, let's go and inform the priest that we completed the task. We are going to the flying city of knowledge!"

Soon they left the room, after some time their excited muffling sound also stopped.
