Michael's brows furrowed as he listened. "Victor? He's been with the company for years… but with everything going on, I wouldn't be surprised if he's feeling the pressure. Still, it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on him."

 

I nodded my head, feeling a slight weight lift at his validation. "Maybe it's nothing, but after that message, I just feel like we can't afford to overlook any possibility."

 

Michael took my hands in his gently, his eyes filled with both concern and reassurance. "We'll handle it. I'll have my security team discreetly monitor his communications. If he's involved, we'll know soon enough."

 

Feeling a renewed sense of resolve, we returned to our work, each moment a step closer to the truth. But beneath the surface, i felt the dread building, an almost primal sense of protectiveness for my family, my unborn child, and the legacy my father had left behind. I just couldn't let Vanessa ruin it all.
