"Do you think we'll ever be able to take her down?" I asked, my voice filled with doubt as I placed my hand in my tummy.

 

Michael looked at me, his gaze unwavering. "We have to. For both our sakes."

 

I smiled weakly. "You make it sound so easy."

 

"It's not," he admitted, reaching out to squeeze my hand. "But nothing worth fighting for ever is."

 

Our fingers intertwined, and for a brief moment, the tension between us melted away, replaced by a quiet understanding.

We were in this together, facing an enemy who would stop at nothing to see us fall. But as long as we had each other, we knew we just could face whatever came their way.

Finally, after the next few days of planning and preparation, we felt ready to confront Vanessa.

Armed with evidence of her wrongdoings, we arranged a meeting in a neutral location—a high-end restaurant where privacy was guaranteed.
