ISABELLA'S POV

 

Michael hadn't spoken since we arrived at the penthouse. I could feel his simmering tension, thickening the air between us. I shifted uncomfortably on the couch, my gaze following his every movement as he paced silently across the room. Each time he passed the window, the city lights cast shadows over his face, emphasizing the hard line of his jaw and the intensity in his eyes.

 

After what felt like an eternity, he stopped, turning to me with a gaze that felt like it could pierce through steel.

 

"Why didn't you tell me about Vanessa's threats sooner?" His voice was low, controlled, but i could feel the accusation laced within it.

 

My breath hitched. I hadn't anticipated this confrontation, not now, not after everything we had been through tonight. "I… I thought I could handle it," i began, my voice shaky but determined. "I didn't want to drag you into this. You have enough to deal with."
