The assistant hesitated. "But what if James starts questioning the narrative?" 

 

Victor's expression darkened. "Then we give him a reason not to. Dig up whatever leverage we have on him and make sure he stays in line. No loose ends." 

 

"Yes, sir," the assistant replied before leaving. 

 

Victor leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers. "The Sterlings won't know what hit them." 

 

That night, as i lay in bed, my hand resting on my belly, i felt a gentle kick. 

 

"Michael," i whispered, nudging him awake. 

 

"What is it?" he asked groggily. 

 

I took his hand and placed it on my stomach. "The baby's kicking." 

 

Michael's face lit up with a mixture of awe and determination. "That's our little fighter," he said softly.
