Despite the chaos surrounding us, our family's future was worth every battle we had to fight.

 

We had an agreement after Micheal came back from his meeting. This agreement was on the meeting we had with Vanessa the next day and I just have to be there.

 

The tension in the room was almost suffocating the next day. Michael leaned back in his chair, his jaw tight, arms crossed over his chest as he glared at Vanessa. She sat across from him, impeccably dressed, her posture screaming defiance even as her eyes darted nervously around the room. Seated beside Michael, I placed a calming hand on his arm. 

 

"Vanessa," Michael began, his tone ice-cold, "you better pray that what you're offering is worth the air you're breathing right now." 

 

Vanessa's lips curled into a faint smirk, though it didn't quite reach her eyes. "It is. But whether you see its value depends on how desperate you've become to bring Victor down."
