Chapter 10 - second date

I woke up the warmth of another person absent this evening. I was used to this feeling, but for the first time I had someone who was sleeping with me that morning, which led me into feeling a bit disappointed, waking up in the middle of the day with nothing much to do.

"The girl... I didn't even get her number. Am I stupid or something? Was I supposed to show up to her house uninvited? Wait did she ditch me? No I think I'm jumping to conclusions, she wouldn't do that.", my head started filling up with negative thoughts, however, the voices were abruptly interrupted by the ringing of my phone.

"Oh great, is this going to be some kind of Indian scam call?" This was the only possible answer I could come up with. After all, the calls of worried individuals had stopped years ago.

I glanced at my phone before realizing the caller ID had the name 'Emily' with a heart next to it.

"What the fuck?" I was taken back by the sudden call and the fact that she had put her phone number on my phone and even went as far to change her caller ID, regardless, I answered the call.

"Um hello?"

"Hellooooo Daniel, I'm Emily from yesterday- was it yesterday? Ya technically was yesterday I guess."

"Ya I remember who you are Emily, kind of hard to forget the person who stopped me from dying."

"Welp anyways, I was wondering if you wanted to take me out on a date at 6 pm so I could return your shirt uwu~"

"You're so shameless, telling me to invite you to a place, and did you just say uwu in a call?"

"I don't know what your talking about."

This side of her is also one I didn't expect. The way she speaks through a phone call is atrocious "Ya sure, I'll invite you to the finest restaurant in Texas."

"I bet you will, anyway I'll get ready, you also get ready. 'Kay Daniel?

"Uhhh sure?"

"Okie dokie byeeee!"

"Wait hold on- great she hung up."

"I really have no idea what this girl is thinking."

She seemed very energetic, was she really excited for the date we would supposedly have? I would be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to having some good laughs with her again ...

"Well whatever, I guess I'll get ready." I sprung into action, getting in the shower and brushing my teeth swiftly.

I sent her a message with the location of the place. It was just a random diner. I asked her where I should pick her up to which she responded by sending the location of a park near the area I had dropped her off previously. "Is it creepy that I pinned this town as the location she could possibly be at? Nahhh..." I didn't feel like going all out, for that reason I picked the diner. With the attitude she gave, she deserves nothing more. I spoke to my self the whole car ride before spotting her standing at the sidewalk, reminding me of a cute street dog "Huh.. she looks pretty"

"Come on, get in!" I shouted while slowing down my car next to her.

"Oh no a creep! Someone help me!"

"Come on, stop playing games and get in!"

She finally listened and got into the car. "Bro hates fun! Anyways sooooo where are you taking me?"

"Did you not see the location I sent you?"

"Oh I thought you sent that by mistake, wasn't it a diner or something?"

"Ya bingo, We're going to a diner. I like the breakfast menu more but since you called me so late I'll have to compromise."

"Oh I tho-"

"Ya you thought wrong." As we approached the diner with her complaining, we both got out of the car and into the diner.

"Woooow nice 5 star restaurant you invited me to Daniel."

"I really don't know what you expected from me, I'm not some kind of sugar daddy."

"Uh no, I wasn't thinking of that. I just thought it would be slightly better considering this is our first date."

"First?

"Yup. And no, that one does not count and this one won't count either"

"You know you're kind of sounding like a gold digger; wanting a better place to eat and such."

"No I'm just saying you should have put a bit more effort considering this was our first date." The menus had arrived but Emily's remarks weren't stopping.

"Just look at the menu and shut up."

"Woah that was like, so misogynistic of you."

"I'm done talking to you."

"Oh come on you know you don't mean that~" she said in a teasing manner.

The waiter seemed to have wanted to come back to take our order, but he must have thought it was a bad time due to our arguing.

"Great, you scared the waiter away."

"Uhm no, that was completely your fault."

The waiter glanced at us again and I quickly singled him to come to our table before he tried avoiding us again.

"Have yall made up your minds?"

"Yes! I'd like the bacon cheese burger please."

"and you sir?"

"Ya I'll take the same thing as her." Although I was looking at the menu the whole time trying to ignore Emily's rant, I didn't pay attention to what was on it and what Emily ordered sounded good.

"and what would yall like to drink?"

"A sprite please!"

"Coke."

"Coming right up." the waiter walked away with our order while Emily started to yap about how her day went at school.

"So ya, and then Zander left me to go talk to some guy like a total whore in the middle of me venting, can you believe that ?

"Is that so?" Seems like she has some fruity friends- forget that she has a lot of friends. She's been talking about them non stop, it's kind of annoying me for some reason.

"I didn't take you for a person who had so many friends. I thought you were one of those girls who was a total loner."

"Erm, I'm not you buddy."

"Hey I had friends when I was in school as well. You're not special. The friends you have now will end up forgetting you once you go to graduate or what not."

"Maybe the filler friends will, but my best friends would never do such a thing."

"We'll see about that."

"Is she treating me like a friend or something? Where did the cute Emily go?" I thought to myself.

The waiter approached us and handed us our food.

"Two bacon cheese burgers, a coke and a sprite; can I help you with anything else?

"No we're fine." This was supposed to be fun but I'm getting more annoyed then anything.

"Oh ya and zander also asked me who I ran off with the other day. I mainly just avoided the qu-"

"What?"

"...What's wrong Daniel?"

"You were with your friends that day?"

"Yeah but I kinda abandoned them."

"Okay, don't tell them anything about me."

"Why?"

"Is it not obvious?"

"Oh I get what you mean I guess."

"Great, I'm glad you understand." The rest of the meal was uneventful at best making, me realize I mainly just liked her company more then anything.

"That was fun, wasn't it Daniel?

"No not really." I said while she was getting out of my car.

"Oh come on, did you not have fun?"

"Nope. I like staying at home."

"You're so bland, anyway I'll call you tomorrow."

Why is his personality like this? I initially thought that maybe he just felt alone and that's why he wanted to kill himself, but he isn't affected by loneliness, much to the contrary, he likes it. He had a lot more fun when it was us at his home, I could tell by his face.....

I drove off at the same place I picked her up. I started wondering to myself how I felt about today. (You're as bipolar as ever. Do you even know what you want?) "I don't know. I just didn't really feel that something. I feel like I'm missing something. I want to be around her but I don't at the same time." (what the fuck are you even talking about? just go back to killing yourself) "You're not helping very much." The voice that would occasionally pop up in my head was just a very negative version of myself. He's just there for me to humor myself with "well I guess I should go pay my dad a visit. It has been a while" (hahahah that's funny)
