Chapter 5 - Ghost Pirate

Lucas got up, determination in his eyes.

"Wait. Are you going to fight them all alone?" Wren asked, his voice filled with concern. "Red-Eye Drake has a crew of over a hundred men. There's no way you can beat them."

"Don't worry about that," Lucas said with a confident smile, his cape billowing as he tried to stand in a cool way.

"I'm being serious here!" Wren raised his voice, frustration evident.

"Leave him be, Wren," the mayor said, placing a hand on Wren's shoulder. "Can't you see? He's already made up his mind."

Mirai grabbed her brother's leg, tugging it and drawing his attention. As he looked at her, she gave him a look that said it was alright, though she was also worried.

Lucas leaped up, phasing through the roof as he flew up, leaving the mayor and Wren in shock.

"Well, I'll be. That young man was a ghost all along," the mayor said, surprised.

Hovering over the town, Lucas's eyes scanned the place as he used a mixture of his x-ray vision to locate the pirates. "There they are. Far south of the island, and it seems they're waiting. Maybe they're searching on the ocean floor now," he remarked as he analyzed them. "Their captain is..." he muttered, flying straight at them.

"Pua!" Divers rose up from the shore. "It's true... I can't believe it's really true," one of the divers said.

"Vice Captain Ivan, we've found the pearl," a Crimson Corsair pirate among the divers notified.

"Well then, why haven't you brought it back with you?" Ivan asked, his tone sharp.

"Well, sir, there was a huge sea serpent. And it seemed to have a liking to the pearl," the pirate responded nervously.

"Damn it. Just when we're so close," Ivan ranted. "Give me a responder snail and inform the captain," he commanded. As soon as he finished talking, Lucas came crashing down, landing on the vice captain with a deafening force.

"Now then, let's deal with the small fries," Lucas said, his eyes quickly scanning the position of all the pirates and marines mixed in with them. He moved swiftly, so fast that nobody saw what was going on. He took down every pirate and marine in a flash.

"Huh... What. Impossible," the remaining divers said, baffled by the sight as the sandy shores filled with the smell of blood.

"You guys are the captives forced to search for the pearl, right?" Lucas asked intimidatingly. The divers nodded, shivering in fear.

"Good. I'm here on behalf of Mirai, the daughter of Haneda," Lucas said.

"What? Mirai's alive? Hey, did you hear that? Mirai's alive!" Haneda, Mirai's father, rejoiced. Some of the other divers murmured, wondering how Mirai could know such a person.

"I couldn't help but overhear you guys saying you found that pearl. Could you elaborate more on that?" Lucas asked as the divers came out of the water and explained everything to him.

"So, that pearl is called the Everlasting Pearl, huh? And it's not the pearl that's precious but a small amount of powder inside the pearl that is rumored to grant immortality," Lucas collected his thoughts after listening. "Was there ever anything like this in One Piece?" he pondered.

"Well, whatever. Where is it?" Lucas asked, his tone firm.

"What?" the divers responded, confused.

"Where's the so-called pearl?" he repeated. The divers were still puzzled, asking why he wanted to know.

"Well, to fetch it, of course," he replied confidently. They tried to warn him about the sea serpent, but Lucas insisted.

"Very well. If you're so bent on it, I'll take you there. It's in an underwater cave just below the shore," Haneda said. The others protested, saying it was dangerous, but Lucas let them bicker among themselves as he phased down the shore. He descended until he found the cave, phasing through the cave's ceiling. The sea serpent attacked him as soon as he entered. It was very much alert, and seeing him coming angered it as he invaded its territory. But its attacks were useless against him while he was intangible, and even if he wasn't, it still couldn't hurt him, let alone touch him.

"There it is," he said as he floated there, intangible. The snake relentlessly attacked him but kept passing through him.

"Hmm. What's that?" Lucas observed, seeing scarlet eggshells. He realized that the serpent probably thought the pearl was one of its eggs. Although he could see the difference in texture and shape between the giant sea serpent eggs and the scarlet pearl, the serpent probably couldn't tell the difference. He formed a purple mana arm, stretching it to snag the pearl. As soon as he got it, he phased back up.

Back on the surface at the shore, the divers were perplexed by Lucas's sudden disappearance. He sprouted up from the ground, holding the pearl in his arm. "Found it," he said, as the divers screamed, thinking they saw a ghost.

"I'll be off then," he said, hovering off the ground.

"Wait. Who are you?" one of the divers asked, bewildered.

"I'm just a wandering pirate," Lucas said as he flew off.

"Pirate..." The divers gasped. A person who went out of their way to save one of their own and was now currently fighting off their oppressors claimed to be a pirate. "This world sure is strange. To think there are even ghost pirates," one of the divers said, baffled.

At the harbor, where three pirate ships were docked along with two marine ships, Red-Eye Drake was furious. "What the hell is going on here? Why is Ivan not responding?" he yelled in fury. "I spent a lot of money getting the marines on my side. If I find that he's trying to pull a fast one on me..." he fumed.

"Captain! Captain!" a Crimson Corsair came running in.

"What?" Drake responded, his tone rowdy.

"There... There's someone who claims to have a message for you. They're waiting outside," he said. As Drake went outside, he saw Lucas standing there on their main deck, and all the Crimson Corsair pirates were knocked out.

Red-Eye Drake stood, enraged at the sight of his crew treated like this. His stature was tall and broad-shouldered. His most striking feature being his left eye, which glows a menacing crimson red, earning him his infamous nickname. He wore a tricorn hat adorned with a large, blood-red feather, adding to his intimidating aura. His beard was thick and unkempt, with beads and trinkets woven into it.

Drake's attire was a long and tattered coat made of dark leather, lined with crimson silk. Underneath, he wore a loose-fitting white shirt, partially unbuttoned to reveal his tattoo covered chest.

His trousers are made of sturdy, dark fabric, tucked into high, weather-beaten boots that have seen many a deck and shore.
