Chapter 1 - I Can See

Since the beginning of existence, there have been strong beings' that have had a hold over all knowledge, resources and power.

To us, they are liked to God's or Demon's, as they have abilities that we have never before been able to understand.

They have kept us under their thumbs, doing with us whatever it is that they pleased, toyed with us merely because they could.

This would continue to be the path the world would follow, as us, the mere mortals, do not have the 'sight' and talents of the strong, atleast not until a few of the strong, become bored.

That then is the time when everything changes and the world as we know it, moves towards a new, exiting path. Few will be able to endure.

But there is always atleast one.

...

On a small planet in the infinite cosmos, a desert houses the people of Atuka, a minor human tribe that quietly keeps to themselves, aside from when they need to bring offerings to the Darukai temple.

On this planet, there lives a singular being who oversees it's general operation for an unknown cause, however throughout the universe, all the common people, being mortals, only know that this power is one that can never questioned.

In this tribe, the people are currently in heavy suspense as the True Child, the direct lineage child of the chiefs blood, was to be born on this day in the next few hours.

Although birth is performed by mystical means in this universe, with no actual damage or pain coming to the mother through the process, the true suspense as always lays with the child.

How will the separation from the mother be handled, both physically and mentally, can only be known days later, all bourn by the child alone, and even moreso, as through the mystical process of birth, children go through their first trials, of pain endurance, their first breath, first sound, and first sight.

Everyone is the room is crowded around a fairly young women, having just entered her prime years in her 20's, as she has a constantly flashing glow around her belly, pulsing, very rhythmically, as though in accordance with the world.

It was at this time that the overseer of the world had just made an agreement with fellow overseers in the nearby worlds, one that would lead to a new age, but we will get back to that later, as a new colourful glow, mixed with variations of light now began to coalesce, forming a chubby baby boy.

Everyone in the room became amazed and ecstatic over the unfamiliar birth, yet grand result. A brand new life had been brought into the world, absolutely fresh, untainted by the future it was about to behold.

As everyone waiting in anticipation, the chief walked over to his wife, and brought his hands forward, to collect the baby that was floating above her at this moment, and with his single touch, the last ray of light vanished, leaving the room slightly dim.

With that, the birth had been completed, but the trials of birth had only just began. For a small while there was no movement, and with each passing second, the quiet went from joyous to grim, slowly but surely, until that first sound.

*ack* *augh* *waaaaah*

The loud noise drowned out the room, but no one became annoyed with it, only absolutely joyful. The endurance of pain, the first breath and the first noise, all came together in one feel swoop, cheers raised the roof, spending far outside, for all the tribe to hear and join in.

Mother and father looked towards each other, expressing the absolute emotions they were feeling within themselves, but that could not be shown to the outside.

The man, a slight bit further on in his years, mid to late 20's, had a stern face on the surface, but if you looked closely, you could easily spot the slight grin playing on his lips.

•My own son, alive, I thank the almighty above•

With a few exchanges of words, the servants around begin cleaning up, as the family of three make their way to the centre of the town, the only waterhole of the tribe, the man stands before a crowd, waiting for everyone to congregate information of him.

As everyone quieted down and came to a stop, the man raised his child up into the air, for all to see, making sure to hold him securely in his hands as he did so.

My people of Atuka, we have been blessed yet again, with one more addition to our people, to our tribe. My wife has gone through her ordeal, and has produced a fine son, alive and loud, may you please welcome my son to our family.

My son, Michael Keans

...

Later that evening, the family atop their bed at home, the mother feeding the child as the father gazed worriedly upon the two.

"Why has he not opened his eyes, why has he not taken in his first sight of the world, what could this possibly be?" Asked the father, with grave agitation.

To which the woman replied, " it has only been a few hours my dear, although it is taking a while, we can tell he is healthy just from his steady breathing, he will witness this beautiful world soon enough, just give him a bit more time."

The man listened but these words did not lessen his worries even a tiny bit. He was thinking about what the possible reasons could be, defect, curse, everything bad he could imagine.

I was not until the child finally finished eating that it turned it's head away from the women's figure, towards the man, only to open his eyes slowly, each pure white, except for the pupils, one being blood red with sprinkles of gold, while the other baby blue with eight small black dots surrounding the centre in an octagonal form.

It was at this time the baby had its first non instinctive thought, though not through any language, just pure unadapted thought.
