Chapter 37 - The party

The Charles estate glittered under the chandelier lights, casting a warm glow over a sea of wealthy and influential faces. This was Mrs. Isabel's first grand birthday; she had always loved a private life; only a few people knew who Mr. Charles's wife was. After much persuasion from her husband, she agreed to have a grand birthday party and his husband made sure every detail in the grand hall had been carefully arranged, and the atmosphere was filled with a sense of anticipation. As guests trickled in, mingling and exchanging smiles, Lisa arrived with Estabel by her side, her presence graceful yet commanding. The dress she wore shimmered in the dim light, catching the attention of more than a few curious glances. After all, it had been years since she left the city.
