Chapter 1 - Prolouge

When I first laid eyes on her, I felt an immediate and profound sense of enchantment. She carried herself with an air of elegance that was captivating; her hair flowed gracefully in the breeze, reminiscent of the vibrant leaves of trees in an October forest, swirling with a gentle dance. Her eyes sparkled like distant stars on a clear night, shimmering with an intensity that seemed to hold the mysteries of the universe within them. Her skin was flawless and soft, resembling the finest silk, glowing with an allure that made it seem almost ethereal.

Though she never seemed to notice my existence amidst the bustling world around us, I found myself drawn to her like a moth to a flame, always watching from the shadows. I would take in the little details—how her laughter lit up her face, the way she brushed her hair behind her ear, and the warmth of her smile that brightened even the dullest of days. I had never mustered the courage to speak to her, yet I felt an uncanny familiarity with every facet of her life.

Deep down, I held an unwavering conviction that fate would intertwine our paths one day, and I would find a way to claim her heart, even if it meant embarking on a journey across the farthest corners of the Earth to do so. The thought of her belonging to me filled me with hope and determination, fueling my silent admiration from afar.

The moment I laid eyes on her, my heart felt like it had skipped a beat, an electrifying jolt coursing through me. In all my life, I have never felt such an intense connection with anyone. But deep down, I know wishing for a relationship with her is futile. If she ever discovered my past, I'm sure she would never want anything to do with me again.

It was never my intention to harm anyone; the events that unfolded were beyond my control. I convinced myself that the people I targeted were all bad, but I never anticipated the pain I would cause—especially to the innocent.

I find myself unable to stay away from her, following her every move. I watch her laughter echoing through the mall as she enjoys her time with friends, and in quieter moments, I can't help but gaze at her through the window of her bedroom. There she is, oblivious to my presence, as she unwinds in her luxurious red silk pajamas.

She has become my lifeline, the reason I wake up each day. She saved me in ways she will never understand; she is the air that fills my lungs and gives me purpose. Every day, my love for her deepens, and though it terrifies me, I dream of mustering the courage to finally express my feelings to her. Perhaps one day, I can reveal the truth without the weight of my past overshadowing what we could have together.

I had just endured the painful experience of being cheated on by my boyfriend of five years, which left me feeling utterly devastated. In search of a fresh start, I relocated to a small town in Texas, never truly anticipating that solitude would engulf me in this dark, empty house. The shadows of my childhood home seemed to echo my loneliness.

I used to spend weekends at my grandmother's house, where her warm laughter and comforting presence filled the air, but she sadly passed away a year ago. Since that loss, life has felt like a downward spiral—a series of disappointments and heartbreaks that I had never encountered before.

Before meeting my boyfriend, I had never really experienced love. It was a transformative feeling, and I thought we shared something special. In the beginning, our relationship was a whirlwind romance filled with excitement, laughter, and what felt like an unbreakable bond. However, that blissful phase quickly turned sour. I began to notice changes in his behavior; he started going out late without any explanation and became increasingly secretive. The trust we built seemed to crumble before my eyes, culminating in the gut-wrenching moment when I discovered he was cheating on me with my best friend of ten years.

Now, as I sit in my new, unfamiliar surroundings, I often find myself gazing out the window, contemplating my life and the choices that have led me here. Recently, I noticed a man standing outside, watching me through the glass. While it might strike others as creepy or unsettling, I couldn't help but feel a flicker of excitement at the attention in my otherwise mundane existence. It was the first spark of interest I had felt in a long time, a reminder that life could still hold some surprises—even amid heartache.
